The Pack's Daughter (Aysel and Magnus) novel Chapter 211

**Midnight Letters by Daniel Crowe – Chapter 211**

The sleek black Rolls-Cullinan, exuding an air of superiority akin to a reigning Alpha, gradually faded from view at the end of the road. Moments later, a different vehicle, one she recognized all too well, pulled up in front of her, its presence a stark contrast to the luxury that had just departed.

Celestine hurriedly shoved the photographs she had hastily gathered into the folds of her coat, her heart racing. Memories flooded her mind, vivid and painful, of the Moonvale Pack members who had stood by, silent witnesses to her suffering in the holding cells, their indifference cutting deeper than any physical wound. The bitterness that twisted her features softened for a fleeting moment, giving way to a fragile, desperate smile that betrayed her longing for connection.

“Mother!” she exclaimed, her voice breaking as she launched herself into the welcoming embrace of Luna Evelyn, who opened her arms wide, instinctively drawing her daughter close. The warmth of that embrace felt like a balm to her troubled spirit.

Alpha Remus and Fenrir were preoccupied with pack matters, their absence palpable. Today, it was only Luna Evelyn and Lykos who had come to rescue her from the shadows of confinement. The sight of Celestine’s gaunt figure, the toll of her captivity etched into every line of her body, brought a wave of pity crashing over them. No amount of anger could overshadow the stark reality of what Celestine had endured. Once a pampered wolf born into privilege, she had never before faced such harrowing suffering.

“Let’s go home,” Luna Evelyn murmured, her voice a blend of relief and sorrow, echoing in the stillness of the moment.

Tears brimmed in Celestine’s eyes as she clung tightly to her mother, her voice barely a whisper. “Mom… thank you for still recognizing me.”

“Don’t speak such foolishness. You are my daughter. How could I ever fail to recognize you?” Luna Evelyn gently wiped the tears from Celestine’s cheeks, her fingers brushing against the thin, weary frame of her child, filled with both love and regret.

The weight of blame hung heavily on Luna Evelyn’s shoulders. She had faltered in her duty to protect her daughter, to guide her through the treacherous waters of pack politics that had ultimately led to this moment of despair.

“Mom—” Celestine nestled closer once more, employing the familiar gestures of her youth, a silent plea for affection that spoke volumes of her vulnerability.

Nearby, Lykos observed the poignant reunion, his thoughts drifting to Aysel at the birthday gathering, cold and distant from the warmth of their pack family. Had he ever truly seen his sister radiate such warmth and care?

“Lykos?” Celestine’s voice cut through his reverie, pulling him back to the present.

He shook his head, forcing a small, awkward smile, knowing full well that she had suffered enough. There was no need to fan the flames of jealousy over this reunion. “Welcome home, sister,” he said softly, his words laced with genuine affection.

As they stepped inside the Moonvale estate, Celestine felt an overwhelming urge to cleanse herself, to scrub away every trace of the filth and despair that had clung to her during her confinement.

As she passed by Aysel’s room, she paused, her curiosity piqued. The door stood ajar, inviting yet foreboding. “Is this being renovated?” she inquired of a nearby maid, her tone casual but laced with underlying tension.

“Yes,” the maid replied, her voice timid. “Madam said the old room was too small. She had the designer merge two rooms together and redecorate according to the second young lady’s preferences.”

Celestine felt her spirits plummet, the brief flicker of hope extinguished in an instant. Her eyes narrowed, glinting with venom and sarcasm. So it was true: no matter how much they tried to erase her presence, the true daughter would always claw her way back, refusing to be forgotten.
