The Pack's Daughter (Aysel and Magnus) novel Chapter 254

**Midnight Letters by Daniel Crowe**

**Chapter 254**

**Third Person’s POV**

Aysel stood before Lykos, her demeanor as composed as the stillness that precedes a raging storm. The air crackled with tension, a palpable chill that seemed to seep into the very marrow of those present.

“I regret it,” she uttered, her voice a mere whisper, yet it carried the weight of a thousand regrets. “If I had the chance to live it all over again, I wouldn’t have saved you.”

Her words struck Lykos with the force of a thunderclap, far more devastating than any of Celestine’s venomous tirades. Panic surged within him, the familiar scent of his wolf spiraling into a chaotic frenzy.

“I didn’t know,” he stammered, his voice trembling with desperation. “I truly thought it was Celestine—”

He bit down hard on his tongue, the metallic taste of blood flooding his mouth, sharp and bitter, mingling with the tension in the air.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” he repeated, the words tumbling from his lips like a desperate plea for redemption.

Aysel merely offered a faint smile, one that barely touched her eyes, as she squeezed the hand that Magnus had enveloped in his own—a gesture of solidarity, a protective act from the Shadowbane Alpha, whose wolf, Rafe, observed the scene with an intensity that spoke of lurking danger.

Her gaze settled on Lykos, a serene clarity washing over her features, as if she had found peace in the chaos.

“Your apology means nothing to me. It’s irrelevant. I have moved beyond caring, Lykos.”

Once, she had cared deeply. Once, she had felt a longing for him, a yearning that had nearly consumed her. That sweet, innocent boy—he had clung to her like a lifeline, a little brother who had been her sole source of light in the dark, crumbling world of the Moonvale Pack.

But each time she confronted Celestine, he had stood by Celestine’s side, snarling and baring his fangs as if she were an enemy rather than the sister who had once adored him.

From that painful realization, she had learned the most brutal truth of their kind: blood ties mattered little. Loyalty, however, was everything.

Jenny, who had been eavesdropping on the unfolding drama, clicked her tongue in disdain and shot Lykos a look filled with contempt.

“Oh please. If you’re so filled with regret, why didn’t you think about it sooner? And your way of apologizing is… what exactly? Creating a disaster and then hoping someone will throw you a lifeline? Even a three-year-old cub knows that ‘sorry’ isn’t just a word you toss around casually. You can’t even spare a piece of candy.”

Her eyes widened suddenly, a realization dawning on her.

“Wait, wait—don’t tell me you saw that my third sister-in-law is thriving now, while your precious reputation-chasing convict of a Luna-goddess, Celestine Ward, keeps dragging your family through the mud? So you’re switching sisters? That’s just… pathetic.”

The atmosphere in the room shifted, and the collective gaze of their allies, the Enforcers, and even Magnus’s Shadowbane warriors turned towards Lykos, their expressions a mix of pity and disdain, but not quite sympathetic.

Lykos felt as if he had been frozen in place, his cheeks burning with humiliation. It was as if someone had dumped a pile of wolf dung on him, and every attempt he made to explain was met with sidelong glances, as if others were trying to avoid the stench of his shame.

Then he sensed it—the suffocating presence that loomed over him. Magnus Sanchez, the man who was meant to be his future brother-in-law, had not uttered a single word since entering the room. Yet his cold, predatory gaze was fixed on Lykos with the precision of a wolf stalking its prey.

Lykos understood that one wrong move could unleash Rafe, the beast within Magnus, and he would be torn apart without hesitation.

Just as the weight of shame became unbearable, a familiar voice sliced through the oppressive silence.

“Lykos.”
