The Pack's Daughter (Aysel and Magnus) novel Chapter 260

Chapter 260

Third Person’s POV

Magnus remained silent, his hand gripping Aysel’s as he pressed a kiss to it.

Damon paused mid-step, intending to step outside for some air. The intimate display froze him. Wolves could sense bonds, and this closeness-so natural, so effortless-was something he had never shared with Aysel. Their relationship had been a battlefield of endless quarrels, confrontations, and exhaustion. That had been the norm. He finally understood what she valued, what she truly wanted-but he no longer had the right to it. Not unless the Alpha beside her wasn’t Magnus.

His claws clenched, the tension in his shoulders sharp.

“Damon!” a voice called from behind, warm and teasing.

Damon frowned, not offering a smile. He hadn’t expected to encounter Celestine here.

She approached with her usual poise, a calculating smile on her lips. “What a coincidence,” she purred. “I came with my elder brother. Care to join us?”

Damon’s brow furrowed. “Fenrir is here too?”

Celestine nodded. “He wants to discuss some investments.” She knew Fenrir’s efforts were likely futile, but

she would not warn him.

Following Damon’s gaze, she caught sight of the pair he was watching. A flicker of fear, resentment, and envy crossed her amber eyes, but she quickly masked it. “Aysel is here too,” she murmured. “She seems very close to Magnus.”

“Though she didn’t visit me while I was recovering from my injuries. She didn’t even see our mother. Mother was heartbroken,” Celestine added, her tone sharp.

“Cut the act,” Damon snapped, his eyes cold and unwavering.

Celestine froze.

Damon fixed her with a piercing gaze. “Do you really think it’s appropriate? After how the Moonvale Pack treated her, how could you expect her to dote on you?”

The blows of recent days had opened his eyes to the magnitude of his mistakes. Celestine and her mother, compared to Quentin and his manipulations, were even more shameless. Were he in her place, he too would wish them gone from the world.

Celestine had never imagined Damon would speak to her this way. The last time she interfered with his courtship of Judy, he had said he would ignore her; now, his words were sharp, cutting like wolf fangs.

Damon stepped aside. “Move along,” he said, voice level but commanding.

He glanced at the group of young nobles critiquing the yacht’s chefs and desserts, lips pressing into a firm line. His mother had been right-he could not allow himself to decay into inaction. Even if it required ruthless means, even if he had to abandon pride, he would reclaim his standing. The disaster with Judy could never happen again.

Chapter 260

Celestine’s stance stiffened as she watched Damon enter the conversation with wealthy scions, unfazed by their barbs, never retreating.

Fenrir appeared behind her without warning. “You’ll bring ruin upon yourself,” he muttered.

Once the model sibling pair admired by outsiders, now only venomous words remained between them. Celestine glanced at him coldly.

Her plans over the next two days would succeed. Fenrir and the Moonvale Pack had no path left but ruin, and the first to falter would be anyone’s guess.

She pushed past him, striding away. Fenrir frowned, pausing to watch Aysel and Magnus whispering and laughing intimately. A wave of frustration rose within him. Had he not severed ties with Aysel, her influence with Magnus could have easily resolved Moonvale’s crises-or elevated them further. But regrets offered no second chances.

As Fenrir’s shadow receded, another familiar figure emerged. Olivia of the Darkmoon Pack bit her lip, her face tense. After the Bastien Sanchez’s gathering, her own pack’s crises had deepened. Her father faced enemies on all fronts in the political sphere, and her uncle’s trade ventures faltered. Just the night before, her uncle had returned drenched in cold sweat, negotiating with her father until dawn. Her mother had returned briefly to her natal pack, leaving her an invitation and warning it was her last chance.
