The Primordial Record novel Chapter 1655

Chapter 1655: The Maw

Rowan had not missed out on the fact that he had not found the Intent of Chaos on the third layer of the void. While battling the Folded Oracles who had taken the shape of his Echoes, Rowan had kept half his concentration focused on discovering any of the Intent of Chaos, but he had found none.

This showed him that the Primordial had only managed to gain control over two layers of the void, which was to be expected, because he was the Primordial of Chaos, not the Primordial of Space.

Rowan had gained the Origin of Fate, but up till this moment, he had not been able to get past the first layer of Fate’s Origin.

He was only making such quick progress because of the inheritance from Eosah. It was amazing that Primordial Chaos would have been able to conquer two layers of the void, alongside other concepts they had mastered, but Rowan knew that the Primordials were ancient beyond all memory, and if they had truly wanted to possess all the layers of Reality, then they would, it would only require an unknown number of sacrifices.

Reaching the fourth layer of the void, Rowan hesitated for a moment, remembering how the realm of Fractal Weave had wrapped him. Still, his hesitation was only momentarily before he proceeded. Perhaps this was the last layer, and his purpose would be completed.

He touched this layer and....

Rowan had just crossed the Fractal Weave, and killing all of the Folded Oracles had not taken much from him, most of his attention had been focused on finding the Intent of Chaos, and he was a bit surprised that he could find none, it would seem that the omnipotence of a Primordial still had a limit, at least the portions of them that were locked inside of Reality.

It was always in the back of his mind that the Primordials he was fighting were a small part of a greater whole that dwelt outside of Reality, but Rowan knew that he would tackle greater challenges in time. What was important was the need to acquire the origin of space, and for that, he would go deeper.

Reaching his hand towards this deeper layer of the void, Rowan hesitated.

"Something is wrong," he whispered to himself. I have been here before..." A glint shone through his eyes, and Rowan smiled. "Oh, that is how it is. The layer below me is linked to oblivion."

Rowan took a step back and began to rotate the power he had gained from gaining dominion over three layers of the void. He reached out and touched the barrier before him, and his hand sank into it without any issue. He paused for a moment before he pushed his entire body through the barrier, and he vanished from this layer.

Rowan’s consciousness was extremely powerful, and although the power of Oblivion here was so great it had erased his memories, it was still not enough to banish all of Rowan’s instincts.

He had experienced the power of Oblivion before, which means he already had a defense against it. Rowan might not be able to resist the power, but he would recognize its traces upon him. So, he quickly deciphered what this power was, and by so doing, he already had an inkling of the method to defeat it.

Primordial Chaos was able to stand outside the Gate of Oblivion instead of any other Primordial, which must surely be linked to his connection with Reality and not just his status as a Primordial.

Mastering two layers of space granted Chaos the chance to manipulate a portion of the power of Oblivion, and Rowan believed that this should be able to help him; he was correct, and so Rowan descended into Oblivion. He felt as if he was pushing himself into a wound.

Once more, his consciousness was stretched to the limits as the alien nature of this place took his mind for a ride. Rowan was coming to understand that this process was the test for his compatibility with the void and his capabilities. If he was missing a bit in any of the two, then death was his most favorable outcome.

How does one come to understand oblivion? Before now, Rowan would have thought such a thing was nearly impossible, but he was only missing the right tools, which were the more profound mastery of the void.

Yet, this tool would only bridge the gap. He must master the intricacies of Oblivion using his mind, and failure would mean his end. After all, he was already inside Oblivion.

It was a struggle to understand the nature of Onlivion, and Rowan silently acknowledged in his heart that at his present level, it was impossible for him, perhaps if he had reached the peak of the eighth-dimensional level, and brought all his wills and the concepts he understood to the proto-ninth dimensional level, he would have the knowledge to understand what was surrounding him, but he was not at that stage.

Instead, to find his way into this place, he had to sacrifice his body and soul, breaking down his flesh with the essence of death and restricting his level to the third-dimensional state, basically making himself a ’mortal.’

Only his capability as a dimension made it possible for Rowan to survive such a thing.

This should have been the end of his road, but Rowan was not alone, and although he struggled, there was still a guide by his side.

"The Maw of Oblivion. You have found my heart. Now would you dare to make it beat again?"

"Ah. Then come to me... Eos. I have waited for far too long."
