Chapter 162
“Even the tip–off about Ghost–Hammer disappearing in Borig was fed to me in secret,” he said.
“Boss, I’m starting to think it was Snowfang who wanted me to know that, too,” he added.
Nova fell silent for three seconds before her lips finally parted. “Yeah. The only one he’s ever really after is me.”
She gave a wry, self–mocking smile.
Before she ended up in Devil’s Isle, only two people knew where she was. They were Ghost–Hammer and Snowfang.
That day, more than five thousand Interpol agents flooded Wally Street of Machie, while thirty–three combat helicopters thundered overhead, shaking every street corner.
Sirens wailed, screams howled through the city.
One after another, relentless and unending.
If her whereabouts hadn’t been exposed, she never would’ve been caught–let alone thrown into Devil’s Isle.
Even before Ghost–Hammer told her about Snowfang’s betrayal, Nova had already reached her own conclusion deep down.
All Snowfang ever wanted was her death.
“Got anything else you’re hiding from me?” Nova’s eyes flicked up to Yellowcat.
Yellowcat paused, giving it some real thought, then shrugged. “Nope, that’s all I got.”
“Take it easy, you hear me? Try not to pull any stunts in the hospital. I’ll come grab you in a couple days,” Nova said, voice low.
What she really meant was–act like wounded patients, not maniacs doing laps in the hallway.
Both of them scratched their heads, almost on reflex.
“Yes, boss!”
“You got it, boss!”
Yellowcat and Ghost–Hammer chimed in one after the other.
“Also, while we’re in Ravenport, stop calling me ‘boss,” Nova warned, her voice careful. She didn’t want to attract any unwanted attention.
Yellowcat’s porcelain–doll face lit up with clever understanding. “You got it, Nova!”
The change in how they addressed her felt perfectly natural.
Three days later.
Blood Lychee said her goodbyes to Nova and headed back overseas for now.
Yellowcat and Ghost–Hammer were finally discharged from the hospital.
With no way to return to the Bloodblade Mercenary Corps or blend into the international underground anymore, they
figured they might as well stick with Nova–and kick off a whole new chapter of their lives in Ravenport, Zoria.
Upstairs at Frostwave Bar’s base.
As soon as they were discharged, Nova brought them straight here.
“Who are these two?” Victor asked, seeing Yellowcat and Ghost–Hammer for the first time. He couldn’t hide his curiosity- both had an air of mystery about them.
“She’s part of the Crimson Web too,” Nova added, raising an eyebrow at Yellowcat for emphasis before addressing Victor.
Victor was one of the Crimson Web’s regional heads in Zoria.
Hearing that Yellowcat was also with the Crimson Web–and that she was close with a high–ranking member like Nova- Victor instantly realized she had to be a heavy hitter too.
Victor immediately grew respectful. “Hello! Welcome!”
Yellowcat flashed him a sweet, porcelain–doll smile. “Hello.”
“Where’s Maxwell and the crew?” Nova asked once the pleasantries were done.
“They’re at the training base,” Victor replied.
With that, Nova led Yellowcat and Ghost–Hammer straight to the entrance of the training base.
“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh-”
They’d barely set foot inside the training base when six darts shot at them from nowhere, zigzagging wildly in all directions.
“Oh shoot! Missed! Heads up!”
Hannah’s panicked shout echoed from inside the training base.
She’d slipped up during practice, sending those darts flying everywhere.
They all thought those six darts were about to spell disaster–even Hannah, usually so full of pride, was horrified and broke out in a cold sweat.
Three darts whistled right at Nova, but without even glancing up, she simply raised her right hand and snatched them out of mid–air.
She caught all three effortlessly, pinning them neatly between her fingers as if it were nothing.
The remaining three shot toward Yellowcat, but with an easy, almost lazy motion, she snagged them right out of the air as well.
Hannah, Maxwell, and Ethan had witnessed Nova pull off moves like this countless times, so her catching those darts was hardly a surprise.
But when Yellowcat, who’d just shown up with Nova, nabbed her darts with complete ease too–All three of them were utterly stunned, left gaping in disbelief.
But that wasn’t all.
“Hey! That’s not how you throw a dart. Watch this…”
Yellowcat said to Hannah in a low voice.
And then, she flicked the dart forward between her fingers, sending it flying with a burst of stunning force.
The dart tore through the air and blasted straight toward Hannah, who stood 30 feet away.
“Whoosh!”
It zipped just a hair above Hannah’s head–so close it nearly grazed her–before slamming into the wall behind her with a
solid thud.
Hannah, Maxwell, and Ethan just stood there like they’d been struck by lightning, completely stunned.
“See? That’s how you toss a dart,” Yellowcat said with a sly grin.
“Now, if you’re throwing two at once, it’s all about hitting hard and fast. Watch this…”
She wedged the last two darts between her index, middle, and ring fingers, clearly showing off now.
With another quick flick of her wrists, both darts whistled through the air straight toward Hannah.
But this time, no luck.
With a quick flick of her left hand, Nova effortlessly snatched both of Yellowcat’s darts right out of the air.
She moved so fast and smooth that everyone could barely keep up watching.
“Enough messing around. Business time,” Nova said coolly.
“On it, Nova!” Yellowcat chirped back.
They had absolutely no idea.
Every move Nova and Yellowcat made was taken in by Hannah, Maxwell, and Ethan.
They’d always known Nova was a force to be reckoned with.
But why was the woman at Nova’s side just as badass?
‘Wait, do they really think tossing darts is just some kind of game?‘ Hannah thought, still reeling in shock.
‘Are you sure those aren’t dangerous enough to cause some real accidents?‘ Hannah thought, still in shock.
As the three stood stunned, Nova called out to them.
“They’re with me. They’ll be staying here for a while.”
“That’s Yellowcat, and this is Gust Hamm. What they’re good at is totally different from Natasha’s skill set.”
“If you’re interested, you can train with them or pick up a few tricks.”
Chost–Hammer had already met Hannah and Maxwell before, so when Nova finished speaking, he gave them a big, goofy
grin.
“Hey, if you want to learn how to throw darts, come find me anytime!” Yellowcat said, shooting Hannah a fond look and sounding downright cheerful.
That offer made Hannah, Maxwell, and Ethan all light up with delight.
Of course, none of them realized just how much of a big deal Yellowcat and Ghost–Hammer were internationally. If they ever found out, it would blow their minds.
Nova had Ghost–Hammer and Yellowcat jump midway through the training session.
Nova beckoned Yellowcat over to the entrance of the training base.
“Nova, what’s up? Something going on?” Yellowcat asked, hands in her pockets, her porcelain–doll face edged with uncertainty.
“I’m leaving Ravenport in a few days,” Nova said, straight to the point.
She was planning to enroll at Suntry Academy.
But this time, it wasn’t like her days at Saint Laurel Royal Academy or her stint as an exchange student at Rena University.
Nova raised an eyebrow. “I’m transferring to a military academy.”
“I remember you haven’t been to school either, right? How about tagging along with me?”
This isn’t like a regular college–military academy is a whole battlefield. Out there, you need a crew you can trust to watch your back.
This time, she was rolling in with the warriors who’d fought real battles at her side, all geared up to shake things up on campus together.
