Chapter 164
It might sound a little complicated, but basically, “Star Points” at this school worked just like regular credits in any other college.
The name “star points” was just something the students at Suntry Academy came up with because it sounded cooler.
The smartwatch Yvonne gave her was just the thing for keeping track of her star points.
For example, after a student finished a mission from the Mission Chamber, they’d head over to the Administration Hall.
There, the staff at Administration Hall would help update your smartwatch, turning your star points from 0 to 10.
At Suntry Academy, how many star points you had was what people judged you by.
At regular schools, everyone was either showing off how rich their family was or talking about how poor they had it.
But here, bragging rights all came down to star points–who had the most, ruled the social scene.
‘Huh, so that’s how these rules work… Nova thought to herself, piecing things together.
“So, the four Shadow Chambers at your academy are basically modeled after the guidelines used by the international underground?” Nova asked.
After listening to Yvonne’s explanation, Nova instantly saw through the underlying system at Suntry Academy.
Suntry Academy’s Mission, Intelligence, Command, and Administration Chambers were basically miniature versions of everything you’d find in the international underworld–handling missions, trading intel, overseeing ops, and running departments.
The star points that ranked each student’s status here were the campus equivalent of street credit and personal value in the global underworld.
In other words, the whole school was just a high school mirror of the real international underground.
“How do you even know about that?!” Yvonne burst out, utterly shocked.
Nova had dropped the truth like it was nothing, and both Yvonne and Lillian–who was still messing with her eyelash curler -let out startled exclamations they couldn’t hold back.
Yvonne practically stared in disbelief, while Lillian, her lash curler still in hand, couldn’t help but blurt out her shock.
After shouting, Lillian let out an “Awoo!“–totally startled.
She was so freaked out, her hands slipped and she accidentally yanked out a bunch of her own lashes with the curler.
Staring in horror at the casualties, Lillian felt her heart sink. ‘No way… my poor lashes just died for nothing,’ she whimpered to herself.
“I mean, how do you even know all these secret rules of the international underground so well?” Lillian asked, her voice still tinged with disbelief.
“We only found out about them after we started at Suntry Academy, just from hearing other students talk,” she added.
She’d only picked up on the underground’s hidden rules from those guys who loved to impress girls with crazy stories— she’d honestly been a deer in the headlights listening to them back then.
‘Wait, did Nova also get swept up in those wild tales from some boys her age, and that’s how she found out all this so early?‘
Lillian wondered.
Just something I heard,” Nova replied with a nonchalant shrug, totally unbothered.
The way Nova brushed it off only made Lillian more convinced–yeah, she definitely picked all this up from those rumor- spreading guys on campus.
Yvonne stepped up and said, “Yeah, all these campus systems–they’re straight–up based on how things work in the real underground.
“The person who came up with the idea of the four chambers and the star points system was actually mixed up in the international scene themselves…
“And they had firsthand experience from back then, too.
“Honestly, it’s kind of legendary now at Suntry Academy. That all went down way back in the last century.”
Their conversation came to an abrupt halt.
Because Nova’s phone suddenly rang, the sharp, urgent tone cutting through the air.
“Sorry, I need to take this,” Nova said.
Nova pulled out her phone and tapped to answer.
Right away, Andrew’s anxious voice blasted through the phone.
“Nova, kiddo, your school just called me–they said your friend got into a fight right out front at the admissions gate.
“You need to get over there quickly.
“Sounds like it’s gotten pretty serious.”
Andrew’s urgent voice snapped Nova back to reality.
Sure, Yellowcat always looked like a porcelain doll–all soft and innocent, always super respectful when she was with Nova.
But in front of outsiders, Yellowcat was nothing like that–she was tough, the kind of person nobody wanted to cross.
Her temper was infamous around here–she could go off at the slightest provocation.
“Got it, I’ll go check it out,” Nova replied, already on the move.
After Nova hung up, Lillian and Yvonne both shot her worried looks.
“Your friend actually got into a fight? You better hurry and check it out! Do you even know where the admissions gate is?”
“Come on, Yvonne and I will show you,” Lillian said, already heading toward the door.
Even though Lillian usually cared a ton about her appearance, when things got tricky, she was always the first one you could
count on.
She dropped her makeup half–finished, snatched up her coat, and was already out the door leading the charge.
As Nova hurried after Lillian and Yvonne toward the admissions gate, Lillian anxiously rambled on, “You know how it is at our school–almost everyone here could hold their own in a street brawl.
“Especially those kids who are always hustling for missions. They’re absolute beasts when it comes to fighting–like, professional–level dangerous.
“So let’s pick up the pace! If we’re late, your friend might be eating dirt before orientation even starts!”
Nova wasn’t worried about Yellowcat getting bullied at all.
‘Yeah, right… if anything, it’s the other way around,‘ Nova thought, a faint smirk teasing at her lips.
I’m way more worried Yellowcat’s out there wrecking someone else,‘ Nova mused.
The Admissions Gate.
When they arrived at the admissions gate, the place was swarming with students of Suntry Academy. The moment Nova and her crew showed up, wave after wave of shrill screams broke out in the crowd, one after another.
Lillian and Yvonne nearly jumped out of their skin, both of them totally freaked.
Those screams were wild…
Both Lillian and Yvonne instantly assumed Nova’s friend must’ve gotten seriously beat up.
“Hey, move! Let us through, our friend’s caught up in there–come on, scoot!” Lillian and Yvonne shouted as they shoved their way into the crowd.
But the second they actually laid eyes on the scene, both of them just froze–totally stunned speechless.
Standing right in front of them was Yellowcat, sporting a light yellow jacket–she looked all sweet and fragile, like some porcelain doll, but don’t let that fool you. With scary strength packed into her slim frame, she had another girl’s arm locked tight in her grip, not giving an inch.
Yellowcat twisted the girl’s arm at a jaw–dropping 270 degrees–like she could snap it in half without even blinking.
The pain was so fierce, the girl’s breath came in fast, panicked gasps, barely able to catch a single breath.
“Get lost! You don’t even deserve to breathe the same air as me!” Yellowcat snapped, her tone icy and full of disdain.
Then, with one swift motion, she slammed her foot down on the girl’s back and kicked her hard, sending her sprawling face- first onto the pavement.
Yellowcat let go after her move, clapped her hands with that signature swagger, spun around–and there was Nova, right in front of her.
Her face lit up in shock, voice practically cracking with excitement.
“Nova! When did you get here?” she yelped.
‘So wait a second…‘ Lillian and Yvonne froze, jaws dropping as the realization hit them.
‘It was Nova’s friend who floored a student from Suntry Academy–not the other way around?!‘
Lillian and Yvonne were so shocked, they just stood there frozen, mouths half open.
They hadn’t even managed to wrap their heads around it yet.
Lillian, Yvonne, and all the onlookers from Suntry Academy were still processing what they’d just witnessed when Nova spoke up, sounding totally unfazed as usual.
“Just swung by to check things out. Make sure you don’t actually kill anyone, alright?” Nova drawled.
Yellowcat shrugged, looking totally unbothered.
“Relax, Nova. I went easy on her. This kid might look innocent, but she’s poison–been coming for me nonstop.”
“I only wrecked her arm a bit. If this was the old days, I would’ve snapped her neck without blinking.”
