Chapter 440 The Rescue at Dawn

a male con

Lucas!Sloane caught him before he collapsed. Both his arms were mangled, his shirt soaked through with blood. His face was so pale it looked almost translucent.

But before they could even catch their breath, the surrounding guards came to their senses. Kill them!Stinger roared. In an instant, dozens of bandits closed in, curved blades glinting in the dawn light as they advanced step by step.

Sloane stood in front of Lucas, clutching the bloodstained dagger in her trembling hand. Her white clothes were drenched in red, but her back stayed straight. Come on then!she shouted.

A bandit lunged at her, hoping to claim the killand dropped dead midair, a bullet hole clean through his head.

Before anyone could react, the thunder of engines ripped through the silence. Dozens of armored offroad vehicles tore across the desert, trailing storms of sand behind them. Heavy machine guns mounted on the roofs gleamed in the first light of morning.

Beth stood atop the lead vehicle, her black trench coat snapping in the wind. She held a light machine gun in one hand, smoke still curling from its barrelthe fatal shot had come from her.

Charlie! Her voice rang across the battlefield. Your time is up!She leapt from the vehicle, landing with precision as nearly a hundred mercenaries fanned out behind herelite fighters from the Blood Wolves, the most feared desert faction, bought with a fortune.

Jack strode up beside her, speaking quickly. We need to finish this fast.

Beth gave a cold smile and drew two Desert Eagles from her belt. Half an hour’s plenty. She raised both guns and fired, dropping two guards who’d been creeping toward Sloane.

Charlie stumbled backward, blood still dripping from his ruined eye, disbelief twisting his face. Impossiblethe Blood Wolves never get involved in another gang’s feud

That’s because no one’s ever paid them enough,Beth said, striding forward through the dust as bullets exploded around her. Charlie, todayyou die.

Behind her, the Blood Wolves had taken the high ground. Snipers settled into position, and the heavy gunners opened fire.

The balance shifted in an instant. The machine guns roared, spitting fire, cutting down Stinger’s men like grass. Within ten minutes, the fight was over. The surviving bandits threw down their weapons and fell to their knees.

Chapter 440 The Rescue at Dawn

Bring him to me!Beth commanded. Charlie, bloodied and broken, was dragged forward like a slaughtered animal.

But Beth barely looked at him. She rushed straight to Sloane’s sideand froze. The girl’s face, streaked with dirt and blood, was the mirror image of her own when she was young. Beth’s lips trembled, her breath catching in her throat.

He’s lost too much bloodSloane’s voice shook as she pressed on Lucas’s wounds. We need to operate immediately.

Beth snapped out of her trance. Rightyes! I’ll get a medical tent set up right now!She turned and shouted to Jack, Set up the best medical tent we’ve got! Now! Move!

She sprinted off, then doubled back in a panic. What else do you need? Surgical tools? Plasma?

Sloane rattled off a rapid list of supplies, and Beth fumbled for her satellite phone, barking orders to have everything airlifted in. The two women worked side by side, their movements instinctively in syncso much so that they seemed to forget everyone else around them.

Hey!Shawn, still tied to a pillar, twisted against his chains and yelled. Would someone mind untying me first?
