The moment they stepped into the bathroom, Lucas turned on the cold water and pried Sloane off him. He pulled her straight into the tub.

Cold water soaked her clothes instantly. Sloane shivered, and her dazed eyes began to clear.

Lucasshe murmured softly, still with a hint of sweetness in her voice.

Lucas crouched down, held her by the shoulders, and said helplessly, Just sit still and stay in the water.

Sloane didn’t respond. She leaned back against the edge of the tub, letting the chill seep into her skin as the heat in her body gradually died down.

After a while, the restlessness in her chest eased, her mind finally regaining clarity.

She stood up from the tub, her soaked clothes clinging tightly to her, outlining every curve of her figure.

Lucas quickly turned around, grabbed a towel from the nearby rack, and handed it to her without meeting her eyes.

Wrap up. You’ll catch a cold,he said, voice slightly hoarse.

Sloane took the towel and wrapped it around herself. It was only then that she noticed several of Lucas’s shirt buttons were undone, leaving his chest partially exposed. There were faint red marks scattered across his skin.

Marks she had made during the heat of the drug’s effect.

Her ears instantly turned red, and for a moment, she thought the drug still hadn’t

worn off.

She awkwardly rubbed her nose. Sorry

Mm.Lucas gave a vague nod and left the bathroom.

Wrapped in the towel, Sloane thought back on how careless she’d been today- actually falling into Helen and Mandy’s trap.

When she stepped back out, Lucas had already changed into a fresh set of clothes. He handed her a clean outfit of his own. It’s new. Go change into this for now.

Thanks.Sloane didn’t bother pretending to be shy. She took the clothes and returned to the bathroom.

By the time she came back out, Lucas had already brewed tea.

He glanced up. Sloane was wearing his pajamas. The oversized clothes drooped off her frame, the sleeves and pant legs rolled up several times. She looked like a kid playing dressupoddly cute.

Sloane sat crosslegged across from him, watching his graceful fingers hold the teacup as he poured. The sight was unexpectedly pleasing.

Drink some tea to warm up.” Lucas gently placed the cup in front of her.

Sloane finally tore her gaze away from his hand, picked up the cup, and took a sip. The warmth flowed down her throat, chasing the cold from her body.

Lucas frowned, clearly disapproving. You knew the Rivers family had bad intentions. Why would you still go to a hotel with her? And you know medicine— why didn’t you recognize what was happening and detox yourself?

Sloane tilted her head and looked at him, hearing the concern buried in his words. I was confident they couldn’t beat me. I just didn’t expect them to use an aphrodisiac instead of poison.D

It wasn’t poison, which was exactly why she’d fallen for it.

She took another sip of tea and continued, That kind of drug has no taste or smell. It’s not technically poison, so unlesswell, there’s no easy antidote.”

Lucas stared at her seriously, his tone firm and unyielding. I’m not gonna take advantage of you. And this time, you got played.

Thinking back to her behavior earlier, his face darkened even more. And if you realized you were drugged, you should’ve kicked me out of the room immediately. How could youhow could you justAnyway, you should’ve focused on protecting yourself
