**When Midnight Winds Carry Secrets Toward Worlds Yet Unknown**
**Chapter 82**
**Scott POV**
Twenty vouchers.
In that moment, Bella was nestled in my embrace, a vision of warmth and softness that felt intoxicating. Her laughter still danced in the air, a melody that wrapped around me, drawing me deeper into her charm. The way she perched over me, her body teasingly close, made me mutter under my breath, “You’re going to be the death of me.” I tightened my grip, holding her securely against my chest, feeling the rhythm of her heartbeat sync with mine. “Behave,” I whispered near her ear, but the plea escaped more like a desperate wish than a command.
My Lycan was an insatiable beast beneath my skin, prowling with an energy that was both exhilarating and maddening. He reveled in the triumph of having claimed our mate, rolling in the satisfaction of marking her as ours. ‘Finally!’ he purred, his voice a low growl that reverberated through my thoughts.
Now that he had tasted her essence, marked her with our scent, he craved more. He wanted everything—her body, her moans, her surrender, and the primal act of joining with her completely. The thoughts swirling in my mind, fueled by his desires, made it nearly impossible to focus on anything other than pleasuring my mate.
‘You have to let me free!’ he growled, his urgency palpable. ‘I want to put my cock inside her. She needs it!’ He pushed against my control, demanding to whisk her away to a secluded place where we could finish what we had begun. Each time Bella shifted on my lap or leaned in closer, my Lycan rumbled with hunger, forcing me to battle the instinct that threatened to tear my very soul apart. Containing him was becoming increasingly difficult, and keeping Bella from succumbing to her own desires was an entirely different challenge. She was still under the intoxicating influence of my venom.
My gaze wandered across the hall, landing on Joseph and Tasha. They stood rigid and silent, their faces pale with a mix of anger and shock. Even from where I sat, I could detect the sour scent of their frustration and fear. Yet, beneath that, I caught whiffs of something darker—calculating bitterness and danger. Their eyes hinted at brewing trouble, and I felt a surge of fury flare within me, sharp enough to cut through stone. After everything they had already done, after nearly taking my life and endangering my mate, they still had the audacity to stand there plotting against us. I vowed silently to deal with both of them—properly, slowly, and ruthlessly.
Elder Kevin raised his hand, releasing a sharp pulse of Alpha authority that rolled through the hall like thunder, compelling everyone to settle. The energy in the air crackled, and everyone straightened at once, instinctively aware of the power he commanded. “We will resume,” he announced, his gaze locking onto Joseph. “Please continue your case.”
Joseph rose slowly, bitterness etched deeply across his features. “Elder Kevin,” he began, his voice dripping with disdain, “even if Bella Williams is his mate, the Lycan King cannot have heirs with a human. His seed would be too potent for her body to handle. It would kill her. And since her children are not his, since they are humans, they cannot inherit anything from him. I must reiterate that their presence among wolves is a violation of the treaty.”
A ripple of murmurs spread through the hall, as if the crowd were nodding in agreement with him. Joseph pressed on, his words quickening. “It is one thing for him to bring his mate into the pack. But he also brought her human children. And her human nanny. He has breached multiple protocols of the treaty. This is no minor issue. He has neglected his duty and jeopardized the security of our species. Therefore, he should be charged with treason.”
His gaze shifted to Bella, lips curling into a sneer. “And this human? She is nothing but a gold digger. She has manipulated him. A true mate would have stepped aside. If she truly loved him, she would have allowed him to marry a she-wolf and continue the Lycan line. But she is selfish. She wishes to steal his throne, seize his wealth, and endanger the future of the werewolves. With her, the king can never have pups. Our future is bleak!”
I felt Bella stiffen slightly in my lap, her smile fading under the weight of his words. My Lycan surged, a beast ready to unleash its fury.
Joseph lifted his chin defiantly, addressing the Elders. “I urge the council to instruct King Scott to reject this human mate if he desires redemption.”
