The Secret Heirs of the Lycan King (by Misha K) novel Chapter 86

**When Midnight Winds Carry Secrets Toward Worlds Yet Unknown**

Freddy recoiled at the sound of my menacing words, yet even in his agony, he attempted to mask his fear with a defiant smirk. “You can try whatever you want,” he wheezed, his voice strained and raspy. “But I don’t even know who you’re talking about.”

I narrowed my gaze, feeling the tension in the air thicken as I tightened my grip on his jaw. A sharp crack echoed through the damp stone corridors of the dungeon as his bone dislocated. Freddy’s scream pierced the silence, reverberating off the cold walls, a haunting melody of pain. His face contorted in agony, yet I knew he would recover. Such was the curse of our kind; pain was fleeting, a mere shadow that passed swiftly, for we healed with unnatural speed.

“That’s quite alright,” I said, my tone unnervingly calm as I observed him tremble beneath my hold. “You’ll mend in no time. And as soon as you do, I’ll have Brandon take over. You have no idea the depths of patience he possesses when it comes to breaking someone. Your nightmare begins now, Freddy. I’ll allow you to heal just so I can shatter you all over again. Slowly. Painfully.”

Freddy coughed violently, blood splattering the ground. “You have no proof of me doing anything! There’s no camera, no witnesses, and nobody saw me. You… you can do whatever you want. My uncle Cass will save me.”

A low, cruel chuckle escaped my lips, dark enough to make even Troy shift uncomfortably beside me. “Your uncle Cass?” I murmured, feigning interest. “How delightful that you mentioned him.”

I cast a glance at Troy, who nodded once before slipping away. My attention returned to Freddy, who was beginning the process of healing. “Do you remember the nanny of my pups? She saw you.”

His head jerked back, shock and fear flickering in his eyes, though he quickly attempted to mask it with bravado. “That fucking human! She didn’t know what she saw! No one will take her testimony. In fact, you broke the law by involving a human!”

A wicked smile spread across my face. “That human is none other than the witch queen, Nancy Krow.” I stepped back, relishing the way his complexion drained of color.

Moments later, two warriors dragged Elder Cass into the dungeon corridor, his eyes blindfolded and his wrists shackled with silver chains. He limped painfully, gasping as the metal burned against his skin, a visible testament to his suffering.

Freddy’s eyes widened, and for a fleeting moment, sheer terror crossed his features, despite his attempts to conceal it. I tilted my head, sensing the panic radiating from him. “Perfect timing. I’ll keep your uncle in the cell right next to yours,” I said, my voice low and deliberate. “And I’ll break you while he watches. Inch by inch.”

Cass erupted with indignation. “King Scott, you have unlawfully captured me!” he shouted, straining against his chains. “What crime have I committed to deserve this imprisonment? I will go to the High Council and file charges! You think that just because you’re King, you can take the law into your own hands? That is NOT how werewolves operate! You can go to hell, Lycan! The werewolves will not bow to your whims!”

My patience snapped like a fragile twig. In less than a heartbeat, I was before him, my hand encircling his throat, lifting him off the ground as if he weighed nothing. His legs kicked helplessly, desperation etched across his features.

“You’re done talking,” I growled, my voice a primal blend of human and Lycan. “I’ve been more than polite for far too long. I respected the Council because of my mate. But I am the King of the werewolves, and I have every right to punish anyone who dares threaten my mate or my pups. And you—” I tightened my grip, feeling him choke, “—you laid hands on what is mine.”

Cass’s face turned a sickly shade of purple, his body beginning to sag under the pressure. He was mere seconds away from losing consciousness.

Through our mind-link, Troy’s voice broke through urgently. ‘Your Majesty, leave him. We need his confession first. Don’t kill him yet. I suspect he’s involved with Joseph.’
