The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 178

But now Lester was claiming he was the majority shareholder? Was this some kind of joke?

Lester took the chance to make a scene, grinning as he announced, “Hey! To be honest, Yves transferred all his shares to me a while ago. He knew he wasn’t fit to run Quigley Group as president—his health’s not great, and frankly, he’s not as capable as I am. In just a few months after he took charge again, the company lost hundreds of millions.”

The truth, of course, was the exact opposite. Lester was the one who’d lost that money. When he filled in as acting president, he’d gambled Quigley's resources on a plot of land, hoping to develop a fancy new neighborhood. But before construction even began, a funeral home was built just half a mile away.

No one wanted to live that close to the dead—the living are superstitious, after all. The project was doomed before it started, and the land ended up abandoned.

As soon as Lester finished, the reporters were abuzz—some skeptical, others actually buying his story. After all, Yves was practically a business legend in Skyrim; a man who’d created myth after myth. How could he possibly have fallen over a single bad real estate deal?

A few reporters tried to press for more, but Lester wasn’t about to stick around. After officially announcing the opening of AQ Group, he slipped into his car and left.

Meanwhile, at Quigley Group headquarters.

Lindsay had taken the day off just to watch Lester make a fool of himself. She closed her tablet, glancing over at Yves, who was buried in work. “Lester’s left and, unless I’m mistaken, he’s probably on his way here right now. Can you believe the name of his new company? Honestly, if he had even half the talent to compete with Quigley Group, he wouldn’t be in this mess.”

Most of Lester’s startup money, she knew, had come from Althea, with a chunk from Zachary. Rumor had it he’d sunk billions into the venture, mostly in real estate.
