The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 216

But Arthur just laughed. "Was she really tricked, or did she come willingly? The look in her eyes... she's not someone who's easily scared. She's sharp."

Lindsay scoffed, retorting sarcastically, "And you don't look like a total scumbag, but the things you do are still disgusting.

"You can't judge people by their appearance. Besides, what has she ever done to you?"

Arthur waved his hand dismissively. "Forget it. I was just trying to warn you to be careful around her. If you don't want to listen, that's fine."

"If you were such a good person, you wouldn't have brought me onto this ship. Are you trying to play the hero now?" Lindsay called him out on his hypocrisy.

Arthur laughed, exasperated. "Lindsay, in the end, you're the one who used me. Don't think I don't know you did all this to provoke Yves, to get him to overcome his trauma and walk again."

"So what if I did? Of course I want my husband to walk again. The moment you thought you were the hunter, you had already lost."

Arthur gave Lindsay a thumbs-up. "Brilliant. You're just like your husband."

"You got a problem with that?" Yves sneered at Arthur. "Then go die."

Arthur was speechless.

"You've changed, Yves. You never used to say such ruthless things."

"I didn't have a wife before."

"Right, right. Now it's all about your wife," Arthur said, annoyed. "I'm so sick of you people. I abducted you with the best of intentions!" With that, he stormed off.

Yves thought for a moment before answering. "Frenemies, I guess. We grew up in the same place, but we went our separate ways after a disagreement."

"Oh? What place was that? I don't think you've ever mentioned it," Lindsay said, her curiosity piqued. But it was clear Yves didn't want to talk about his past.

"It's in the past. Arthur and I hadn't been in touch for a long time. I never would have imagined he'd go so far as to kidnap you just to provoke me."

"Regardless, the outcome was good. You can walk again. The risk was worth it."

Yves reached out and gently pinched Lindsay's nose. "Don't you ever do anything so dangerous again," he said, feigning anger. "I was worried sick."

"But I was more worried about you. I wanted you to walk again, not be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of your life," Lindsay confessed. "I want you to be able to stand at the top of the pyramid and look down, not sit in a wheelchair and look up."
