The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 28

“Then I’ll leave my husband in your hands. Make sure you give his arms and legs a good massage,” Lindsay instructed Horace before turning and heading into the bathroom.

Horace moved closer, gazing down at Yves with a deep, inscrutable look. “Wake up soon. I’m waiting for you,” he murmured.

It’s time we settled our scores.

By the time Lindsay finished freshening up and came downstairs, she found Mr. Quigley Sr. sitting on the living room sofa, deep in conversation on the phone. His expression was grave, his brows knotted as if he were dealing with something seriously troubling.

“This must be investigated to the end. I want to know who dared cross me,” he said, voice cold and commanding.

After hanging up, Mr. Quigley noticed Lindsay and quickly smoothed his expression. He beckoned her over with a wave.

“Lindsay, come here. I need to speak with you.”

She sat down beside him, meeting his gaze without flinching. Lindsay had a strong hunch that his phone call just now had everything to do with her.

Mr. Quigley hesitated, searching for the right words. “We’ll have to put the IVF plans on hold for now. I need to discuss things with the doctor and work out a new approach.”

With that, Lindsay instantly understood what had happened. She asked directly, “Was the sperm bank destroyed?”

If only Yves' samples had been targeted, it would have been too obvious. Whoever was behind this must have wiped out the entire bank.

He gave a heavy sigh. “Yes. So the IVF has to wait. I’m talking to the doctors now, seeing if there’s any way to collect from Yves… given the situation.” His face was pinched with worry.

“It’s my fault, all of it,” Mr. Quigley said with a heavy sigh. “What a curse on this family.”

Lindsay said nothing. The Quigley family really was cursed, with so many heartless snakes under one roof. For the sake of power, they’d even turn on their own blood.

Mr. Quigley called Daniel in and told him to prepare the car; he would personally investigate the destruction of the sperm bank.

After watching Mr. Quigley leave, Lindsay turned to head back to her room—only to spot Leif coming down the stairs. He had a large backpack slung over his shoulders and was rolling a suitcase behind him, looking every bit like someone about to set off on a long journey.

“Are you headed to Aquora?”

Suddenly, a memory from her previous life flashed through Lindsay’s mind. Leif had left for Aquora around this time for training, and just a few months later, he’d died tragically during a competition.
