The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 73

Judging by how things were unfolding, Lindsay feared the tragedy from her previous life was doomed to repeat itself.

Seeing Lindsay’s expression grow increasingly grave, Yves picked up on something. “What’s wrong?”

Snapping out of her thoughts, Lindsay hesitated for a moment before answering, “Tina’s unstable right now, mentally. She’s showing signs of real illness. Maybe sending her overseas for treatment would be better.”

“That’s the Lee family’s business. It’s up to them how they want to handle it.” Yves wasn’t one to interfere in other people’s affairs.

Lindsay managed a thin, uneasy smile. “I’m just worried Lee’s niece is going to make an even bigger mistake next time. Right now it’s just assault, but what if it escalates? What if she actually kills someone? Could Lee really protect her then?”

“Well, it’s her own path to walk. Lee’s already done more than enough for her today.”

Lindsay fell silent. She wasn’t the meddling type either, but if Tina ever killed someone, it would set off a chain reaction—and Yves would be the one to lose the most in the end.

Losing everything would be bad enough, but what she feared most was a turn of events so different from her past life that Yves' very life would be in danger this time.

“Mr. Yves, Ms. Nelson.” Just then, Daniel returned, greeting Yves respectfully.

Yves gave a barely perceptible nod.

“How’s she holding up?” Lindsay asked Daniel.

Every day, there were stories about mentally ill people hurting or even killing others. It wasn’t impossible that Tina might snap after some provocation, and that would be a repeat of the past she so desperately wanted to avoid.

Daniel’s face darkened, lips pressed tightly together. He knew how fragile his niece was—so long as no one mentioned that bastard or his illegitimate children, she’d keep it together.

Desperate to stop the tragedy from replaying, Lindsay pressed on. “Lee, don’t take this the wrong way. She and I are colleagues, and I’ve heard about everything she’s been through. She’s had a rough time—no one’s denying that.

But sympathy only goes so far. She’s already hurt someone, and you were able to step in for her this time. But if she kills someone? There’ll be nothing you can do. Sooner or later, she’ll have to face the consequences.”

Daniel nodded, appreciating Lindsay’s concern. “I understand, Ms. Nelson. I’ll talk to her again. Maybe leaving Riverton wouldn’t be the worst thing, after all.”
