The Wolfless Contract Luna (Grace and Ethan) novel Chapter 10

**Chapter 10: She’s Carrying His Baby**

**Grace POV**

As the fragments of the evening before come together in my mind, clarity washes over me like a cold wave.

Last night. The unsettling feeling of being scrutinized. The shadows that seemed to breathe, watching my every move.

It was her.

“So it was you, lurking in the darkness.” I let my smile morph into something sharp, almost predatory. “Following me around like some lovesick ghost. That’s a new low, even for you, Lilith.”

Her eyes narrow, a flash of indignation crossing her face. “I don’t know what you’re—”

“Please.” I step forward, closing the distance between us. “You really think I didn’t notice your gaze? Hiding among the trees like some voyeur?” I lean in, my voice dropping to a whisper laced with venom. “Does Damien know about your little spying habit? Or is it just your twisted way of getting thrills—watching people who actually matter?”

“You bitch—”

“Not everyone is as vile as you, Lilith. Some of us have principles.”

At the edge of the training ground, I notice movement. A group of omegas has gathered, drawn in by our escalating voices. They linger uncertainly, their eyes flicking back and forth between us, clearly intrigued.

Lilith’s complexion reddens, her anger boiling over. “Principles? You’re lecturing me about principles?” Her voice sharpens, slicing through the air like a knife. “You’re the one who threw herself at Alpha Ethan the moment your mate turned his back!”

“I needed an escort—”

“You needed attention!” She practically screams, her voice echoing off the trees. “Because Damien has tossed you aside. Because you’re broken and worthless, and he finally found someone who deserves his love. So you ran to the first powerful Alpha you could find like the desperate, pathetic—”

“Careful.” My tone drops to an icy whisper. “You’re projecting.”

“I’m telling the truth!” Lilith’s breath comes in heavy gasps. “Everyone saw it. How you clung to him, how your eyes lit up when you looked at him. You’re just trying to replace Damien because you can’t stand the fact that he chose me over you!”

The whispers of the omegas swirl around us like a storm, gossiping and speculating.

“Chose you.” I let out a bitter laugh, sharp and cold. “Is that what you call it when a man keeps his mistress while still bound to his Luna?”

“I’m more than a mistress.” Lilith’s hand instinctively moves to cradle her stomach, a protective gesture that sends a jolt of unease through me. “I’m carrying his child.”

The ground shifts beneath me, the world tilting at an impossible angle.

“What?”

“You heard me.” Her smile transforms into a mask of triumph. “I’m pregnant. With Damien’s baby. Something you could never provide him.”

The mate bond screams within me, a visceral pain tearing at my insides. Another loss. Another betrayal. Another reminder of all that he has taken from me.

But I refuse to crumble. I won’t give her the satisfaction of seeing me break.

“Congratulations.” I manage to keep my voice steady, though the words are laced with contempt. “You’re having a bastard.”

Her smile falters, the confidence wavering for just a moment.

“That’s what the child will be, legally speaking.” I circle her slowly, savoring the moment. “Born out of wedlock to a man who already has a mate. An illegitimate heir with no claim to the pack. Unless…” I pause for effect. “Unless you manage to convince Damien to divorce me first. Make it legitimate. Give your baby a real future instead of a shameful one.”

“Illegitimate.” She repeats the word, and I can see the bitterness in her eyes. A flicker of uncertainty crosses her face—perhaps fear?

But it vanishes as quickly as it appeared, replaced by that cruel smile.

“You’re dreaming if you think he’ll ever divorce you.” She steps closer, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “You won’t get your divorce, Grace. Not now. Not ever. Because—”

Her sentence is cut short as her gaze shifts, focusing on something over my shoulder.
