The Wolfless Contract Luna (Grace and Ethan) novel Chapter 2

**Chapter 2: The Bond’s Agony**

**Grace’s POV**

The agony surges within me, tearing through my chest like a wild beast, claws raking at my insides. I can barely breathe, gasping for air as I clutch the sheets, my body instinctively curling inward, trying to shield itself from the relentless waves of pain crashing over me. The mate bond screams in my mind, howling in torment, ripping itself apart with every thrust I can still feel reverberating through the connection between us.

*He’s still with her.*

A whole night. An entire night spent in her arms.

With great effort, I push myself upright, every muscle in my body protesting as if they were all in on this betrayal. My hands tremble as I sweep the hair away from my damp face, the bond pulsating once more—pleasure on his side, pure agony on mine. I bite down on my lip, hard enough to taste the metallic tang of copper.

*Enough.*

I am done allowing him to inflict this kind of suffering on me.

The hallway stretches out before me, a seemingly endless expanse, but I force my feet to move, each step a battle against the weight of despair pulling me down.

*“…heard she stood there and watched…”*

*“…probably deserves it, what kind of Luna can’t even shift…”*

The whispers trail behind me like dark shadows, taunting and relentless. Pack members lower their heads as I pass, some with pity softening their features, while others wear expressions of something far uglier—contempt, satisfaction.

I lift my chin defiantly, determined to keep walking.

I’ve endured these looks for five long years, ever since that fateful night when everything unraveled.

My eighteenth birthday was meant to be a celebration—a night of awakening, the moment I would embrace my wolf and claim my rightful place as the heir of the Aurorawisp Pack.

But instead, my father collapsed during the ceremony, lifeless before he hit the ground. And my wolf? She never came.

Hour after hour, I waited, my body ablaze with the anticipation of change that never arrived, while chaos enveloped the pack around me.

No Alpha. No heir with a wolf to lead them. Just me, shattered and powerless, drowning in their disappointment and my own overwhelming grief.

Damien found me that night, the darkest night of my life. He held me as I shattered into a million pieces, helped me piece the pack back together when I felt utterly lost. He made me believe that being wolfless didn’t mean the end of everything.

I fell for him, completely and desperately, and at the tender age of twenty, I bound myself to him forever.

*What a fucking joke.*

That memory now tastes bitter on my tongue. The darkest night of my life has been eclipsed by a new one—last night, watching my mate betray everything we were meant to be.

Damien’s quarters loom ahead, a fortress of betrayal. My heart hammers against my ribs, each beat a cruel reminder of the bond that is slowly tearing me apart.

And then I see her.

Lilith stands just outside Damien’s door, dressed in a flimsy pink slip that leaves nothing to the imagination. Her dark hair cascades over her shoulders like a silken waterfall, and even from this distance, I can sense the intoxicating scent of sex and satisfaction rolling off her in waves.

Beta Luka shifts uncomfortably beside her, clearly torn between loyalty and the tension in the air.

“Did you do as I asked?” Lilith’s voice drips with sweetness, yet it feels as toxic as poison.

“Yes, Luna Lilith.” Luka’s response makes my stomach churn. “The omega delivered your message exactly as instructed.”

“Good.” Lilith’s laughter is soft, yet it carries a triumphant edge. “I wanted to ensure our dear Grace knew precisely where to find us. It would’ve been such a shame if she’d missed the show.”
