The Year I Was the Other Woman To Myself novel Chapter 228

“I… I won’t tell them.”

“I’m sure you’re not stupid enough to. Now that you’ve been fired, if they found out, they’d immediately demand that six hundred thousand back from you.”

A chill crept up Susan’s spine. It was one move after another. Penelope was a dangerously cunning woman. The biggest mistake she ever made was provoking her. What a fool she had been.

After leaving SoC Corp., Penelope went to see Mr. Olson. Her cold had worsened, and she couldn’t bear it any longer. She needed some real medicine.

“Here. One packet per dose. It won’t interfere with the other medicine you’re taking,” Mr. Olson said.

Penelope let out a long sigh. “Lately, I haven’t been drinking or eating spicy food. I go to bed early, wake up early, maintain a regular schedule, and I’m trying to stay calm and emotionless. I’m practically ready to join a convent.”

Mr. Olson chuckled. “Then why did I detect such a fiery pulse when I checked you just now?”

“I don’t start fights, but people keep starting them with me.”

“You’re not one to take a loss lying down.”

“So I hit back.”

“And you’re still so fired up?”

Penelope tried to pinpoint the source of her frustration. When something occurred to her, she leaned in and whispered to the old man, “That ‘no intimacy for a month’ rule… is that set in stone, or is there some flexibility?”

Mr. Olson’s mouth twitched. “You greedy girl.”

“If you had to face a man as gorgeous as Theodore every day, and could only look but not touch, you’d be greedy too!”

It wasn’t that she hadn’t had a taste, but she was far from satisfied. It only made her hungrier.

“He has a guest.”

Penelope felt it would be polite to go and say hello. But as she approached the study door, she was surprised to find that the guest was Hans Bishop.

“Carson, who exactly is this daughter-in-law of yours? Is she really more outstanding than my granddaughter?”

“Master, she is second to none.”

“Alright, let’s not beat around the bush. I’m here to propose a match for my granddaughter. She has her heart set on your son!”

“You must be joking. My son and my daughter-in-law are already legally married. Their wedding is in a few days!”

“They can get a divorce! The bride at the wedding can be changed!”
