The Year I Was the Other Woman To Myself novel Chapter 299

“You’re here on behalf of the Stone Group to discuss a partnership with me?” Penelope frowned. What kind of game was Ward playing now?

“That’s right. I hope we can have a pleasant collaboration.” Chasel walked up to her and extended his hand.

“I have no partnership with the Stone Group, and certainly not with you,” she said coldly.

“You’re Mrs. Stapleton now. All you have to do is say the word, and the Stone Group gets the project they want. At least, that’s what Ward told me,” Chasel said with a smirk.

“Tell him to give up. I don’t interfere in Zenith Group’s business, but if they were to consider a partnership with the Stone Group, I wouldn’t just refuse to help—I’d actively sabotage it.”

“I’d advise you to be smart about this. Don’t get in the way of me making money.”

“What are you talking about?”

Chasel smiled. “Ward promised me two million dollars if I can get you to facilitate the partnership between the Stone Group and the Zenith Group.”

Penelope’s fists clenched. Ward was resorting to these kinds of dirty tricks. “And you think I’ll listen to you?”

“I am your cousin, after all.”

The sickening smile on Chasel’s face made her blood boil. She swung her fist, landing a solid punch on his jaw. “Did you forget my warning? Stay out of my sight, or I’ll beat you every time I see you.”

To her surprise, Chasel didn’t get angry. He just laughed and offered her his other cheek. “Go on, hit me again. I can take it.”

Penelope didn’t hesitate. She punched him again, then followed up with a kick that sent him to the ground, where she rained down a flurry of blows. She put all her strength into it, and it took Chasel a moment to stagger back to his feet. But he was still smiling.

“Chasel!” She punched him again, this time in the mouth, drawing blood. “I’ll kill you!”

But Chasel had clearly thrown all caution to the wind. He wiped the blood from his lips and continued to taunt her. “I can say whatever I want. Someone is bound to believe it.”

He walked over to a nearby car and pulled out a dress. It was a white dress, torn and stained with blood. The sight of it made Penelope’s entire body tremble. It was the dress she had been wearing the day Lucien dragged her into that room, the dress he had ripped. The blood was from when her mother had killed him.

How dare he. How dare he!

At that moment, Penelope’s rage consumed her. All reason fled. She looked at Chasel and saw nothing but a disgusting maggot that needed to be crushed. She wrenched open her car door, jumped inside, and floored the accelerator, aiming straight for him.

Chasel panicked for a second and started to dodge, but then a new thought seemed to strike him. He stopped, turned, and spread his arms wide, as if to welcome the impact.
