The Year I Was the Other Woman To Myself novel Chapter 395

It was utterly humiliating.

Mrs. Bishop pulled Yvonne off the stage. When they met up with Donald, the three of them shared the same thought and left the gala without another word.

“Penelope set up that whole speech! She did it just to embarrass me!” Yvonne seethed on the way home.

Mrs. Bishop put an arm around her. “This Penelope is full of tricks. We’ll have to be more careful from now on.”

“I’ll never forgive her!”

“Don’t be angry. Mom will get even for you.”

“But what hurts the most is that I think Theodore knew, and he let her do it to me!” Yvonne’s eyes welled up with tears. “He doesn’t protect me like he used to when we were kids!”

“He’s just temporarily bewitched by her. He’ll come to his senses, and when he does, he’ll see how wonderful you are.”

“But will I still have a chance then?”

“In terms of family background, looks, and ability, you’re superior to Penelope in every way. With a little more effort, we can definitely win Theodore back. My only wish is for my precious daughter to have a happy marriage, and only Theodore and the Stapleton family are worthy of you.”

Donald, sitting on the other side of the luxury van, couldn’t listen anymore.

“Theodore is already married. Don’t you two have any sense of morality about breaking up a family?”

“Dad!” Yvonne cried out indignantly. “She’s the one who stole Theodore from me! She’s the immoral one!”

“Regardless, they are married. You need to let Theodore go!”

“I can’t! I love him, and I will have him!”

“Have you no shame?”

“If you’re not going to help me, fine, but now you’re insulting me?”

Donald rubbed his forehead, overcome with a deep sense of helplessness.

Mrs. Bishop gave Yvonne a look, signaling her to stop arguing with her father.

“Theodore and Penelope will get a divorce eventually. We’re just helping Yvonne plan for her future. What’s wrong with that? Don’t bring morality into everything; it sounds so unpleasant,” Mrs. Bishop said to Donald in a low voice.

“And what makes you so sure they’ll get a divorce?”

“Never love you!”

Furious, Mrs. Bishop shoved him. Donald raised his hand to strike back but caught himself, clenching his fist at his side.

“You know exactly what you did back then! Just because I don’t talk about it doesn’t mean I don’t know. And it doesn’t mean I can ever forgive you!”

With that, he shot her one last cold look and turned away, continuing down the road.

Mrs. Bishop’s lips trembled, her eyes wide with panic.

He knows? What does he know?

Neither of them realized they were being photographed. The next morning, they were trending online.

Penelope didn’t hear about it until she was having lunch with Wilma and the others. The story had been trending all morning and had even spawned three new related hashtags.
