**Where Sleeping Rivers Dream We Follow Trails Toward Tomorrow**
I cannot allow this! Mona’s voice echoed fiercely in my mind, a relentless drumbeat of frustration and fury. I will not stand idle! The High Alpha must pay for his transgressions. He must understand who we are, what we are capable of!
No! I shouted, my voice trembling with urgency. Not here. Not now. We can deal with this later.
There is no time for later! Mona snapped back, her anger crackling like a live wire. The spawn must pay. Now!
As her rage surged within me, I felt the familiar, overwhelming sensation of shifting take hold. My body twisted and contorted, bending to the will of my wolf form. I hunched over, my hands pressing against the cold, hard floor of the cafeteria. In a matter of moments, they morphed into powerful paws, my legs and spine arching as the transformation consumed me. The familiar burning sensation coursed through my veins, an all-consuming fire ignited by Mona’s presence. I glanced down, watching in dismay as my clothes disintegrated into charred remnants, falling away from my newly formed wolf body.
With a fierce shake, I crouched low, baring my teeth in a snarl directed at Kairos. Mona’s fury enveloped me, a dark cloud that narrowed my focus to a singular thought: attack Kairos. I took two deliberate steps forward, my eyes locked onto his, and I could see the shock and awe written across his face. Around us, students scrambled from their tables, their chairs scraping against the floor as they sought refuge from the chaos brewing in our midst.
“Call off the pack,” I barked, my voice low and threatening as I glared at Kairos. He blinked at me, confusion etched into his features, and took a hesitant step back.
“I didn’t put them on you,” he shot back, his voice laced with desperation. “I had nothing to do with this, I swear!”
“Why do you lie!?” I roared, feeling Mona surge forth, amplifying my rage. The words tumbled from my lips like an uncontrollable tide.
In that moment, instinct took over, and I pounced.
Like a well-rehearsed dance, Kairos shifted almost instantaneously into his wolf form. He dodged my snapping jaws with remarkable agility, flinging himself into a nearby table. The students still seated yelped and leapt to their feet, scattering in all directions, their eyes wide with fear. But Kairos was quick to retaliate. He charged at me, tackling me to the ground, sending us both rolling across the cafeteria floor, crashing into chairs and tables as we fought for dominance.
Finally, I managed to reclaim the upper hand, pinning him flat on his back. He shifted back to human form, attempting to push me away, but his strength was no match for my wolf’s power. My paws pressed down on his shoulders, holding him firmly in place as he struggled beneath me.
