Three Years Wasted I Married Mr. Right novel Chapter 188

Sophia woke up again; her throat burned painfully. Even swallowing hurt.

She looked up at the glaring white ceiling and a plain ceiling light.

The sharp scent of disinfectant filled the air.

Am I in a hospital?Sophia wondered.

Sophia could sense someone else in the hospital room, and automatically glanced over, following the subtle sound of their breathing.

Richard was dressed in a black shirt, leaning his head on one hand, napping right next to her bed.

Sophia looked at him blankly, unable to hide her shock.

She vaguely remembered that, just before she lost consciousness in the mountains, she might have seen him.

Sophia’s mind raced. Did he really save me?

Seeing Richard sound asleep and noticing the chilly AC in the room, Sophia worried he might get cold. She wanted to grab her jacket and drape it over him.

But the moment she tried to move, a ripping pain exploded in her wrist.

She couldn’t help but let out a muffled groan, and Richard, sitting by her side, stirred from his nap.

Richard slowly opened his eyes, and for a moment, he and Sophia just stared at each other. Then, his voice rough from sleep, he finally spoke.

You’re awake?Richard asked.

Sophia tried to sit up, but her wrist had no strength left, and she slumped back onto the pillow.

Richard immediately stood up, concern flashing in his eyes, and half bent over the bed, bracing himself on the edge.

Don’t try to move. You could open up the wound on your wrist again,Richard warned.

Sophia looked up at Richard, who was leaning over her. From this angle, he was so goodlooking she couldn’t look away.

Hey, I’ve been lying here so long I’m so stiff I feel like I’m falling apart. Mind giving me a hand sitting up?Sophia asked.

Sure,Richard replied.

He carefully slid his arm around her back, supporting her shoulders, and gently helped her sit up.

Once she was seated, fur picked up a pillow and placed it behind her, making sure she could comfortably lean

So, how are you feeling Richard asked, his voice gentle but still tinged with sleep.

My throat is killing me. Could you maybe get me some water? Sophia said, sounding a bit sheepish.

Am I being too bowy, asking him to help me with something like this? Sophia wondered, feeling a little awkward

Richard turned and poured her a glass of water, then handed it to her. Can you hold it steady?

Yeah, I can,Sophia replied.

Sophia reached out to take the glass, only then noticing that both her wrists were wrapped in bandages.

The bandages were medicated and crusted with dried bloodher wrists were clearly in pretty bad shape.

She held the glass and took small sips, letting the water soothe the burning in her throat. Once the pain eased a bit, she finally spoke again.

Where am I?Sophia asked.

We’re in the hospital. That night, you got soaked in the rain and were totally exhausted. You’ve been unconscious for a few days now,Richard said gently.

That night, her wrist got infected so badly that she had a raging fevershe was in such bad shape that the hospital actually issued a critical alert for her.

Richard scrambled to get a private jet and flew her straight back to Jelasburg, pulling together a team of specialists for an emergency consult. In the end, he literally snatched her from death’s doorstep.

With her voice raspy and a hint of disbelief, Sophia murmured, Richard, you were the one who saved me that night, weren’t you?

Richard gave a quiet hum, his answer gentle. Yeah.

Sophia couldn’t help but gaze at himRichard’s chiseled features and those impossibly deep eyes made it hard to look away.

Thanks, Richard. I guess I owe you my life again,” Sophia said softly, her tone a mix of gratitude and disbelief.

Seven years ago, he’d pulled her out from beneath the rubble. And now, seven years later, at almost the exact same spot, he’d come to her rescue all over again.

Richard shot her a teasing look, halfsmiling, and took the empty glass from her hand.

Since you’re so hung up on me saving your life, how about marrying me?he teased.

Sophia was stunned for a moment, then chuckled, shaking her head. Don’t mess with me, Richard. You sure

you’d even dare to marry a woman like me!

ichard raised his eyelines, smirking Ole And what kind of woman is that supposed to be

Sophia closed her eyes, Lucas’s faunting words from that rainsoaked right still haunting her thoughts.

She is nothing but a bitch, passed around and used. How could I ever dream of repaying his kindness try becoming the Sterling family’s lady?he had said.

You know what I mean, Sophia murmured.

I don’t know what you’re talking about, Richard said, frowning. He really couldn’t stand hearing Sophia sell

herself short like that.

He couldn’t even stand the idea of her seeing herself in such a negative light.
