Three Years Wasted I Married Mr. Right novel Chapter 189

Chapter 189

So what if someone’s been married before? Who hasn’t lost their head at least once for love? Does that mean they’re supposed to rot away in their old mistakes and never get a second chance? Richard thought.

The mood between them shifted.

Sophia could tell Richard was getting annoyed. She was about to say something, but her throat suddenly felt raw and itchy, forcing her to hold back.

soon as she tried to speak, she burst into a fit of coughing.

The tension in the air grew thick all at once.

Richard’s lashes drooped as he let out a silent sigh, then reached over and gently patted her back.

Sophia was coughing so hard her throat felt shredded, and she could even catch the metallic taste of blood.

Richard could only fetch another half glass of warm water, gently bringing it to her lips.

With his hand steadying the glass, Sophia took a few careful sips, and her scratchy, burning throat finally felt a little better.

Her voice came out raspy as she said, Thanks.”

Richard kept the glass in his hand as he settled beside her. Are you feeling any better now?

Yeah, thanks. I’m always making trouble for you,Sophia said quietly.

She still couldn’t get over how Richard had joked about her paying him back with her marriageit was just so outrageous she almost couldn’t believe he’d actually said it.

Someone like hima real Mr. Perfecthow can he just drop a bomb like that and act like it’s no big deal?Sophia thought.

Richard fixed his gaze on her and sighed, You’re always so formal with meit honestly leaves me not knowing how to respond.

Sophia paused for a moment, letting her eyes drift down to the hospital logo stitched onto the linens.

In Unity Care Hospital, she lifted her gaze back to Richard, her voice carrying a hint of uncertainty. Are we back in Jelasburg?

Yeah,Richard replied.

Sophia couldn’t remember a thing about coming backshe must’ve been completely out for the count, with no clue that she was already back in Jelasburg.

Richard glanced at how frail she still looked and asked, Want to lie down and maybe get soine more deep

Sophia rubbed her stomach. Tim kinda hungry.

She couldn’t even remember how long she’d been asleep.

Richard’s lips curled into a gentle smile. Sorry, I should’ve noticed sooner. I’ll have someone bring you something to eat, right away.

Just as he was about to make the call, the hospital room door swung open, and Annabelle came in with a food thermos in her hand.

Spotting Sophia propped up against the headboard, Annabelle’s eyes practically popped with excitement. Sophie, thank god, you’re finally awake!

You were out for five whole dayswe were scared out of our minds. The doctors even said you were in critical condition!

That night, Sophia’s body temperature dropped to a dangerously low point. After they got her back to the tent, she suddenly came down with a raging fever in the middle of the night.

She was wracked by several violent fits.

The medic on site was helpless and urged them to get her to the hospital in Jelasburg as fast as possible.

Richard drove them himself, tearing through the night to Jelasburg, but even after she was admitted to the city hospital, the doctors there had no answers.

They went so far as to put out a critical condition notice for her.

Richard pulled together a team of top doctors and brought them over to treat Sophia.

But the city hospital just couldn’t match what they had in Jelasburg, so Richard went ahead and booked a private jet to fly Sophia and the whole medical team straight back to Jelasburg.

Only then did Sophia’s condition finally start to stabilize.

During the day, a caregiver took care of Sophia, but every single night, Richard stayed by her side himself, refusing to leave.

Annabelle saw the whole thing and couldn’t help but smirk to herselfRichard was definitely falling hard for Sophie.

Sophia hadn’t checked the time at all and really thought she’d just been asleep for a day or two. Turns out, it had actually been five whole days.

You guys must’ve been scared out of your minds, huh?Sophia said softly.

Annabelle grinned. Of course we were! Uncle Richard was so freaked out. He nearly-

Did you bring anything to eat? Could you wash a plate for Sophia? She’s hungry,” Richard said, his voice cool but unmistakably in charge.

Annabelle caught the daggerlike glare Richard leveled at her and promptly bit back everything else she was

about to say.

She flashed an awkward grin, made a show of zipping her lips, and chirped, I’ll get right on it!

Upon watching Annabelle make her escape, the smirk faded from Richard’s lips.

That blabbermouth almost let the cat out of the bag. Man, that was way too close!Richard thought, breathing a silent sigh of relief.
