Three Years Wasted I Married Mr. Right novel Chapter 225

Chapter 225

Chapter 225

David shot his father a thumbs-up. “Nothing beats experience, Dad. I’ll call the contacts in Minwnorth right away.”

Once Sophia was gone, all their problems would disappear.

Downstairs, Lucas finally showed up, and Emily threw herself into his arms, crying her eyes out.

“Lucas, you’re finally here! Sophia is so evil-she drugged all of us last night, set us up for a bunch of staged pics, and even made it all into a video, Emily sobbed, her voice trembling.

No matter what kind of video Sophia might’ve sent Lucas, Emily wasn’t going to admit a thing.

Lucas grabbed her shoulders and pushed her away, his eyes sharp. “What video?”

Emily blinked in surprise. “She said she sent you a video. You didn’t get it?”

Lucas lowered his gaze, his eyes cold and piercing as he studied her. “Emily, where did those marks on your neck come from?”

Emily flinched, a wave of panic flashing through her. She hastily tugged at her collar, desperately trying to hide the telltale marks.

Lucas wasn’t some clueless kid-he knew exactly what those marks meant.

His expression hardened instantly. He ripped her collar open and spotted even more red marks.

Those marks were like a punch to the gut, making his vision go black.

He grabbed Emily by the neck, his voice filled with fury. “Tell me-who the hell did this to you? Emily, have you really betrayed me?”

Emily couldn’t catch her breath, tears welling up instantly. Her voice was barely a whisper. “Lucas, it was Sophia.”

Lucas just froze, his mind blank for a second. “What did you say?”

“Last night was my dad’s birthday. Sophia showed up and drugged all of us. I almost got assaulted by one of the men she brought,” Emily choked out between sobs.

There was absolutely no way she could let Lucas catch wind of what really happened last night.

If Sophia hadn’t sent him a video, then that means there’s no way there could be a video at all.

As long as she never admitted a thing, it was as if there had never been anything between her and David.

Lucas’s eyes bored into hers, sharp as knives. “Really?”

“Really, Lucas. What Sophia did to me-it’s just way over the line,” Emily whimpered, playing up her innocence.

Lucas suddenly let go of her, a strange glint flickering in his eyes.

‘Sophia drugged Emily? No way she’d go that far unless she still cared about me. And that whole stunt with Richard-she only did it to piss me off, Lucas thought.

‘I knew it. Someone who loves me as much as she does could never really let me go, Lucas thought, riding high on his own confidence.

Emily watched Lucas carefully-and the moment she realized he had no plans to dig deeper, she relaxed a little inside. ‘He really does love me. Just a few words and I smoothed everything over about last night, Emily thought, her heart feeling lighter.

‘But Sophia knows what happened. If she’s still around, she’s bad news-there’s no end to the trouble,’ she wondered.

But in three days, Charles was set to ship her off to Minwnorth. She’d be gone for good-there’s no way she’d ever come

back.

Thinking about that, Emily couldn’t help but breathe a quiet sigh of relief.

‘Sophia, you’d better just rot in some godforsaken foreign country-don’t you ever come back for anything that belongs to me, Emily sneered to herself.

When Sophia got back to Annabelle’s place, Annabelle had just rolled out of bed, still half-asleep as she watched Sophia walk out of the kitchen.

“When did you get back?” Annabelle asked, her voice still groggy.

“Just now. Passed by your favorite bakery, so I grabbed what you love,” Sophia said warmly.

Annabelle rushed over, her eyes lighting up at the spread of pastries on the table-the delicious smell was irresistible.

“Whoa, this is a feast! Sophie, you’re way too good to me. Honestly, why don’t we just be girlfriends already?” Annabelle joked, giving her a playful wink.

Sophia grabbed a piece of cupcake and stuffed it in Annabelle’s mouth. “Eat. I’m not into girls, so don’t get any ideas.”

Annabelle made a face. “So hey, a beauty company hit us up about buying our regeneration patent. You want to talk to them or what?”

With the patent locked down, Pioneer Institute had become the hottest ticket in the whole beauty business-every industry heavyweight was itching to get their hands on it.

Whoever scored the rights to that formula could shake things up and finally break Yadel Group’s stranglehold on the market.

“Set up a meeting. If the deal’s good enough, we’ll see if it’s worth working together,” Sophia said.
