Chapter 227
After a bit of small talk, the conversation naturally drifted to the formula for skin regeneration.

Micah said, “Our R&D team has been working on a regenerating cream, too, but we’ve always struggled on the tech side.
“Honestly, after Yadel Group’s new product launch, we were ready to throw in the towel. Never thought they’d mess up so badly.
“I know this might sound bad, but when I saw Yadel Group’s regenerating cream crash and burn, I felt a mix of relief and a bit of dismay.”
Sophia and Annabelle exchanged a look, and Annabelle said, “That’s got to be some seriously mixed feelings, Mr. Nelson.”
“For sure.” Micah agreed. “When you’re heading up an R&D team in beauty, watching Yadel Group crash and burn is the ultimate wake-up call.
“No matter what, we’ve got to always remember who we’re serving and keep a real respect for the people buying our stuff.”
Sophia nodded, totally on board. “These days, customers call the shots and word of mouth means everything.
“Yadel Group forgot all that, and look-they got bitten back by the folks they ignored.”
Micah’s face lit up as if he’d finally found a soulmate for his ideas. He raised his glass high. “Dr. Evans, looks like we really see eye to eye. Bottoms up!”
Sophia grinned—it was rare to find someone who vibed with her thoughts like this. She tapped her glass to his. “Drink up!”
Annabelle just sat there, totally powerless to slow them down.
These two were like kindred spirits-honestly, it felt like they’d known each other forever.
Annabelle was starting to worry that if they kept vibing like this, sparks might really start to fly.
Micah had shown up for one reason-the formula for skin regeneration-but he didn’t utter a single word about it all night.
Instead, he spoke about what it really means to run a company, the weight of responsibility and duty.
Sophia suddenly saw what a true business leader looked like, a whole different breed from what she was used to.
He was worlds away from Lucas, that pampered heir; Micah had the kind of drive and principles that set him apart from all those trust-fund kids.
By the end of the dinner, Micah and Sophia were both pretty tipsy-maybe even straight-up drunk,
The wine wasn’t the strongest stuff, but that sneaky after-effect definitely snuck up on them.
Outside Kazuwa House, Micah took Sophia’s hand, his words slurring with tipsy sincerity. “Dr. Evans, I wish we’d met sooner. Nobody gets me like you do.
Sophia felt a warmth bloom in her chest, her reply honest and heartfelt. “Mr. Nelson, you’re my kindred spirit too.”
Annabelle kept a firm grip on Sophia, half-afraid these two might just burst into a hug right there on the sidewalk.
“Alright, alright, I get it-you two are kindred spirits. Mr. Nelson, time to get in the car,” Annabelle said, trying to break up
the moment.

She quickly signaled Micah’s driver to get him into the car, but he just held onto Sophia’s hand, as if letting go was the hardest thing in the world.
“Dr. Evans, I still have so much to say to you. Our ideas just click, you really are the soulmate I’ve been searching for,” Micah said, his words heavy with drunken sincerity.
Annabelle’s eyes nearly popped. “Mr. Nelson, drink away if you want-but dude, you gotta watch what comes outta your
mouth!”
‘Soulmate? Whoa, slow down there! If you go stealing Uncle Richard’s thunder, where’s he supposed to go and cry about it?” Annabelle snarked inwardly.
“Okay, enough of that-time for you to get going. We’re heading out too!” Annabelle jumped in, eager to get them all moving before things got even messier.
With that, Annabelle quickly helped Sophia into the car. Just as they reached the door, the window slid down, revealing a strikingly handsome face.
Annabelle’s eyes went wide. “Uncle Richard? What are you doing in my car?”
‘And he’s in the driver’s seat-did he come all this way just to take us home?’ Annabelle wondered.
Richard glanced at the tipsy Sophia, his eyes darkening as he remembered how cozy she’d just gotten with that other guy.
There was a shadow in his gaze, brooding and impossible to read.
“Get in. I’ll drive you home,” he said, his voice tight with something between jealousy and protectiveness.
Annabelle noticed Richard’s dark and stormy mood, so she wasted no time shoving Sophia into the back seat. As for herself, she totally chickened out and didn’t dare climb in.
“Uncle Richard! Oh, shoot-I just remembered I have something super urgent! Can you take Sophie home for me?” Annabelle called out, putting on her best innocent voice.
Before anyone could react, she snatched up her bag and made a break for it-vanishing down the street in record time.
