Time-Limited Love: A Contract Expired, Not Renewed novel Chapter 131

“Zephyr, you really have a way with words, don’t you?”

“Oh, I’m harsh? Have you looked in the mirror lately?”

Zephyr’s voice rose, sharp and unyielding.

“I know my student’s medical skills better than anyone. As for her character, that’s not for you to judge.”

He brushed the microphone shoved in his face aside.

“Security—get these people out of here.”

The pack of unscrupulous reporters were stunned that the hospital director would stand up to “public opinion” so brazenly.

“Zephyr, the public has a right to know the truth! You can’t just throw us out!”

Zephyr’s patience snapped, but just as he was about to retort, Zinnia stepped in, blocking him with a gentle hand.

She faced the young reporter who’d spoken, her voice calm but firm.

“I’ve already said: if there are post-op complications, the hospital will investigate and give the family and the public a full explanation. As for my private life…”

Zinnia’s gaze sharpened, cool and unwavering. “Whether it’s you, or the so-called ‘public’ you represent, none of you have a right to that information.”

“You—”

“And another thing,” she added, her tone laced with warning. “The person who paid you to stir up trouble—she knows the real story, deep down. Let me give you a bit of advice: don’t take this too far. It won’t end well for her.”

Her words, heavy with implication, made the tabloid reporters exchange uneasy glances.

For a moment, their bravado faltered. Zinnia’s calm certainty made those who’d taken the money feel a sudden pang of guilt.

“You… What are you even saying? We’re just here to stand up for what’s right. No one paid us—you can’t just slander us like that!”

“Director, you’re amazing!”

“So cool, sir!”

Zephyr looked a little embarrassed at the sudden praise, grinning awkwardly and waving them off.

Then he turned back to Zinnia.

“Don’t worry about me. I’m not going anywhere, and I won’t let anyone bully you.”

Zinnia couldn’t help laughing at her mentor’s bluster, her heart warmed by his support.

“Thank you, sir.”

“I’ve already arranged for several doctors—inside and outside the hospital—to carry out a thorough review of Xander’s case. And don’t worry: I’ve had your surgery footage reviewed by some very experienced physicians. There’s nothing wrong with your work. The problem must be somewhere else.”
