Too Good for You The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 108

After leaving the infirmary, Nicola schooled her expression.

She glanced around cautiously before sneaking off to Shannon, who was in the recreation lounge playing a racing game. Since her fracture, the latter hadn't been back in the training hall for a long time.

Nicola approached her, looking worried. "After you left, the doctor checked Noelle again. He said she'll recover if she rests for a few more days, but he suspects something's wrong with her food and water.

"Noelle has reported it to Coach Landaal. He'll probably launch a full investigation into who poisoned her."

Shannon's expression froze before twisting into irritation. "That useless Jayden can't do anything right!"

He couldn't even poison Noelle properly!

Nicola worriedly added, "If they find out…"

Shannon sternly cut her off, saying, "Jayden's poison came from Hazel, so it has nothing to do with me. Still, I didn't expect Noelle to walk away unharmed. She should've been doomed by now."

Shannon fell briefly silent. After glancing around and making sure no one was listening, she set the game controller aside and whispered to Nicola, "Keep poisoning her."

Nicola panicked and instantly refused. "That's too dangerous! I'll be done for if I get caught!"

Annoyed by her cowardice, Shannon glared at her. "What are you afraid of at this point? I'm the only one in Turbolt Racing who knows about this, so that means if you poison her, no one will ever know it was you as long as neither of us talks."

She lowered her voice further and continued, "Besides… We have Jayden taking the blame, don't we? He's poisoned her multiple times, so even if the investigators dig, he'll be the prime suspect. You'll be fine."

Nicola pretended to ponder as if seriously considering whether it was possible.

After a long pause, just as Shannon was losing patience, she reluctantly said, "If I succeed, I want a guaranteed spot in the upcoming qualifying race."

Shannon hadn't expected her to make demands, but considering it was a risky task, she had no choice but to agree. "Don't worry. I'll make sure you get your spot in the qualifying race."

Still, Nicola seemed worried. "Derrick and Alexis are both better than I am, and there's a limited number of slots. What if I…"

"Don't worry about it. We've got people on the coaching team, and I'll make sure they push your name. Besides, you're skilled enough to succeed in the qualifying race, so they won't exclude you," Shannon said, rolling her eyes.

Rumors spread through the intensive training camp like wildfire after Noelle was taken away. Everyone was saying someone had poisoned Noelle, and a poison vial had been discovered in the infirmary. The camp authorities immediately called the police, who arrived to collect fingerprints from the vial.

Everyone in the intensive training camp was called in for questioning.

Shannon felt nervous, but she didn't think the police would find anything. So, when facing the officers, she was almost gloating.

"Officer, Noelle has always been not well-liked among us, so she probably had it coming if someone poisoned her. For all we know, the culprit might've escaped."

She figured that even if her fingerprints were taken, it didn't matter. Both she and Nicola had touched the vial.

Nicola had carried it the whole time and used it to poison Noelle. Any fingerprints found on the vial would point to the former.

Shannon scanned the room but didn't see Nicola. Maybe the latter had fled off with a guilty conscience, and Shannon figured she deserved it for not disposing of the vial properly.

While she was lost in thought, the officer held up her fingerprint scans and compared them to those found on the vial before coldly announcing, "The fingerprints on the vial are yours!"
