Too Good for You The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 136

Half an hour later, the people in the small car that had been tailing Noelle suddenly realized they had lost her.

The driver rubbed his eyes, unable to believe what he was seeing. "That's weird. She was just in front of us a moment ago. How did she vanish? There's no trace of her around."

The passenger leaned out, scanning the area.

He glanced around but saw no sign of Noelle.

His face fell in frustration. "Damn it! We've lost her. Mr. Anderson made it clear we had to get her."

But they had lost her right after leaving the mountain. It was humiliating. They were supposed to be professionals.

...

Meanwhile, Noelle climbed into Albert's car and began changing outfits in the backseat.

Her delicate, elegant face was transformed under her own skilled hands, like a gossamer mask.

In an instant, she took on an exotic air, looking like an international model straight off a magazine cover.

Albert watched in awe. "Boss, your makeup skills are insane."

She was not just putting on makeup. She was changing into someone else's face.

No wonder people on the black market paid a fortune for face masks made by her since her reputation echoed through every corner of the underground. But there was no way to get them.

Noelle's tone was calm. "For the next few days, I'll appear as your confidante. No one should suspect anything."

Albert frowned. "Boss, you've been fine at the intensive training camp. Why did you suddenly come down the mountain?"

That wasn't like her at all. She was usually low-profile and cautious, never exposing herself.

Noelle shared a link with him.

When Albert opened it, he nearly jumped off the couch. "The Haberkorn family is looking for you? And they're planning to take action?"

Noelle nodded. "It's Adam's wife, Laura. She sees me as a threat and wants me dealt with."

Although she had left no trace of her actions with Felicia and Shannon, anyone with half a brain would connect her to the people behind the scenes.

Her voice carried a warning. "Don't tell Hunter about this."

Albert's entire demeanor faltered. "They're trying to hire someone to kill you, and you're staying calm? Honestly, telling Hunter would be better. He could handle it…"

All these years, Albert had been a pretty solid right-hand man.

He shot her a look. "Boss, you're welcome."

He arranged for her to stay at the Cobalt Club villa. The place was lively with events, so she wouldn't be bored.

He grinned. "Boss, I've got something going on for the next few days. Why don't you cover this event for me? It's not like you've got anything else on your plate..."

He moved forward to massage her shoulders, but she gave him a sharp glance, full of warning.

Albert corrected himself. "This car modification event is important, but I really can't get away from the other matter I'm handling."

She withdrew her gaze. "Fine."

She knew Albert had been deceived by a woman years ago and had spent all this time searching for her. Most likely, this time it was a lead on that person.

"Car modification event, huh?" she murmured. Her brows arched as she scrolled through the participant list. Sure enough, she saw a familiar name—Quake.

She hadn't been looking for Lola, but it seemed Lola had delivered herself right into her hands.
