Too Good for You The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 157

Even though Hunter hadn't said a word, Noelle could see the worry and concern written all over his face.

She gave his back a light pat, almost as if to reassure him. "I'm fine."

However, that didn't diminish the fear he had felt.

"I thought I was going to lose you again," he said, his voice carrying the weight of someone who had almost watched everything slip away.

Noelle had been fully prepared before coming, every step planned. But that didn't make it any easier for him—his heart was always tied to hers, and no amount of planning could erase his fear.

She gave a small smile. "Alright. People are watching. Don't be so dramatic."

Only then did he loosen his grip on her. His eyes were slightly red at the corners, proof of just how much pressure he had been under.

Noelle turned to the SWAT captain, her expression serious. "Officer, this man, David Anderson, kidnapped members of the national team and attempted to harm me. This isn't just a crime; it's malicious and deliberate.

"I suspect this isn't his first time, either. Otherwise, he wouldn't be so brazen. Please make sure he's punished to the fullest extent of the law."

The captain nodded firmly. "You have my word, Ms. Quinn. An incident like this happening in our jurisdiction is a failure on our part. We'll strengthen our supervision and hold every single one of them accountable."

Pinned down and bleeding from the wrist, David bared his teeth at Noelle.

"Don't get cocky, Noelle! Just because I'm in cuffs doesn't mean you've won! I have proof that you participated in the exhibition game under a false identity!"

Noelle shrugged, completely unfazed. "I must have forgotten to mention—most national team drivers can't join private races without permission. That part's true. But I'm not 'most drivers.'"

A smile touched her lips. "I applied for permission beforehand. The higher-ups themselves approved it."

The change on David's face was instant—his arrogance collapsing into despair. Noelle twisted the knife with a calm, merciless tone. "And as for your threats just now? I've got every word recorded."

She pulled a recorder from her pocket. "David, I hope you use your time in prison to reflect on what you've done, instead of thinking up new ways to hurt people. Even if you crippled me or Alexis, you'd never set foot on the international stage."

His face turned green, then red. She had played him from the start!

David let out a bitter laugh. "Ha! To think I've survived this long, only to fall to a woman like you!"
