Too Good for You The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 19

Alexis chuckled. "Since Coach Landaal brought Noelle here himself, she must have something special. It's just a test to see how well she does under pressure, and it won't kill her."

A sly smile flashed in her eyes. "Even if there's an accident, it'd just prove she doesn't belong here."

Everyone in the training camp had earned their spots through grueling selection. The fact that Noelle had strolled in through connections filled Alexis with resentment.

Still, Hazel seemed worried. "But if words get out, won't it look like we're bullying a newcomer? And if something really goes wrong, we'll be punished."

They could even face suspension.

Alexis brushed off the concern. "I'm going to teach this newbie a lesson, or she'll start throwing her weight around just because she's older. Could you stand that?"

By then, Noelle was ready, and Alexis didn't hesitate any longer. She put on her helmet and strode toward her assigned car.

All eyes were on Noelle and Alexis.

Alexis gripped the steering wheel, feeling nervous for some reason. She looked over at Car No. 3, where Noelle was still looking around and touching the controls as if she'd never seen them before.

Alexis smirked. The moment the starting lights went out, both cars shot onto the track.

She was utterly stunned. How was this possible?

Just seconds ago, Noelle had seemed like a complete novice, yet she'd gained a two-second lead on Alexis right off the start line.

Two seconds, a mere blink of an eye, was enough to create a significant gap in racing.

That was when a realization hit Alexis that Noelle wasn't a clueless novice. She immediately stopped underestimating her opponent and focused entirely on catching Noelle's Car No. 3.

Still, she wasn't rattled and was even amused. On a wet, slippery track like this, the golden rule was "slow in, fast out".

Pushing for speed was the worst mistake, and with Noelle's aggressive, high-speed racing, there was a chance she could spin out.

Racing on wet, slippery tracks was different from racing on usual tracks. It would take about two or three laps to warm the tires.

Noelle was leading at the start, and her car was further ahead of Alexis' after she finished warming up her tires.

By the time Alexis' Car No. 7 crossed the finishing line, Noelle had gotten out of Car No. 3 with her helmet off. She watched the former with an expressionless face that felt like a silent mockery.

Alexis paled. Since joining the training camp, she'd never been defeated. No one in Flame Speed Racing was her match, but Noelle, a newcomer, had just given her a harsh lesson.

Alexis' lips trembled. "You…"

"You lost," Noelle stated in a calm, indifferent tone. "The bet still stands, I assume? From now on, you're my assistant. Fetching water and handling chores will be your responsibility."

Alexis clutched her helmet tightly as Noelle flashed a faint smile. "I'm thirsty, Ms. Tates. Would you mind fetching a case of water for everyone?"

Not a single member of the team dared to speak. Some were already scurrying off to fetch the water.

Hazel had recorded the entire race. The recording showed that Noelle wasn't a racer, but a madwoman behind the wheel no one could touch.

Alexis glared at Noelle with deep, intense hatred burning in her eyes.
