Too Good for You The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 194

The moment Charlie saw Hunter, his entire demeanor changed. Like a mouse spotting a cat, he instantly became deferential. "Mr. Haberkorn? You… You know Ms. Quinn?"

Noelle turned to look at Hunter. She did not know when it had happened, but the junior who once followed at her side was now standing in front of her, protecting her and taking the blows for her.

"Ms. Quinn is my senior," Hunter said casually, though his sharp eyes left no room for doubt. "She's also the closest person to me in this world. Mr. Dean, I believe I just heard you mention a certain figure for the fee?" He spoke with a laid-back ease, yet his presence carried undeniable weight.

Charlie swallowed nervously, his voice full of flattery. "I didn't expect you to attend this race, Mr. Haberkorn. Even more surprising is that you and Ms. Quinn are so close. Ms. Quinn, why didn't you tell me?"

He forced a laugh. "Let's just treat it as our team offering free service to Ms. Quinn. I spoke out of turn earlier. My apologies."

His shift in attitude took Noelle aback. Still, she was not going to take advantage. Her voice was cool. "If I'd had another choice, I wouldn't have stopped at your pit at all. Don't worry, I'll settle the service fee and the tire cost at market rate. I can't accept it for free."

Just a moment ago, he was threatening to drag her to the international court. Who knew if he might change his mind again?

Charlie glanced fearfully at Hunter. When he nodded, he quickly wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Of course, of course. Everything will be as you say. Who would dare defy your wishes?"

Noelle found it strange. After all, Charlie was the manager of Norland's national team, a man with considerable authority. Was he really this afraid of Hunter?

But seeing Hunter's calm expression, as if this kind of thing was nothing new to him, Noelle decided not to press further. Since the matter was settled, she just let it go.

After they left, Charlie patted his chest in relief. A colleague asked quietly, "Mr. Dean, who was that man? Why are you so afraid of him?"

Startled, Charlie snapped, "Don't ask questions you shouldn't! Keep your nose out of it."

The colleague, stung, left in silence. But Charlie was still rattled. Hunter controlled international resources across multiple brands. Cars that could not be bought on the market, he could acquire with ease. Rumor had it that even the top-tier luxury racing brands addressed him with respect.
