The rest were visibly shocked.
No one had expected Alexis to speak up on behalf of Noelle.
Noelle wasn't even here.
Besides, Alexis couldn't put up with Noelle, right?
Hazel huffed angrily. "Alexis, are you crazy? I didn't say anything wrong!"
Alexis let out a cold snort. "You can say her abilities aren't up to par, and that her stamina is rubbish, but demeaning her just because she has a child and is divorced?
"You're not insulting her, you're insulting all women. Won't you get married and have kids in the future?"
Hazel was rendered speechless. Before she could even react, Alexis had stormed out in a fury.
Looking aggrieved, Hazel protested, "I was just speaking up for her, wasn't I? Everyone knows she's waiting on Noelle's hand and foot like a servant. I can't believe she just yelled at me because of Noelle."
Jayden quickly consoled her, "Don't be upset, Hazel. Alexis is stubborn. She'll soon realize her mistake."
Hearing that, Hazel was finally satisfied.
Right after storming out of the multimedia room, Alexis came face-to-face with Noelle, who was standing at the door.
It seemed Noelle had just completed her extra training. Her hair was damp with sweat, and her cheeks were flushed. "Thank you for speaking up for me."
She was just passing by when she heard the argument inside.
She never expected that Alexis, young as she was, would be this righteous.
Alexis scoffed icily, "I wasn't helping you, so don't flatter yourself. My idol is Sheila, and she can't stand people who objectify or belittle women. I just couldn't stand the way she was talking, that's all."
After saying that, she strode away with her head held high, her ponytail swinging behind her, as though she held the same disdain for everyone else in the world.
Noelle snorted out loud, finding it rather fun to return to communal life again.
…
In the children's ward at Brindley Hospital, Zayne was finally ready to get discharged after two days of rest.
For the past two days, Clifford had been buried under work. One after another, the partners made it clear they wouldn't renew their contracts once they expired. He reached out to several car manufacturers, but every single one turned him down.
As a result, he didn't even have time to take care of Zayne.
Still, Clifford remained displeased. "I can't believe she's this ruthless. She didn't even ask about Zayne."
In the midst of playing games on his tablet, Zayne shouted, "Mom's bad! She doesn't love me at all! Ms. Perez's still the best!"
Clifford wore a complicated expression.
Lola gave a sweet smile, leaning in so her chest subtly brushed against Clifford's arm. "Once Mrs. Fuller gets tired of her little escape and remembers how good you are, she'll come back on her own. There's no man out there who can compare to you. If it were me, I'd never leave you."
Tugging on his tie, Clifford turned away from Lola's soft, alluring body. "When Noelle comes back, I'll explain everything to her. By then, you'll leave on your own accord. Don't show up and upset her again."
Lola felt her heart sink. Though her resentment for this cold, selfish man only grew stronger, she refused to give up just yet.
After the incident about her being a homewrecker was exposed online, her reputation took a hit.
She hired some ghostwriters to clear her reputation online for a few days, and it was taking effect. Most of the comments online now praised her and Clifford for being a perfect couple.
Flashing a bitter smile, Lola said, "I'll do as you say."
A flash of guilt rose in Clifford's heart, but when he thought of Noelle, he suppressed the guilt deep down.
