Too Good for You The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 40

"You were amazing, Ms. Quinn! Your performance on the racetrack outshone 99% of the racers in our intensive training camp!" Jayden pushed a beer bottle in Noelle's direction while moving closer to her.

"You really are incredible, Ms. Quinn! Flame Speed Racing has a bright future ahead of it thanks to you," he added.

The other team members nodded in agreement. They had doubted Noelle's capabilities in the past, but they had full confidence in her now.

Jayden chortled. "It's no wonder Alexis couldn't beat you. I don't think anyone can when you're so skilled."

Alexis' face stiffened when she heard his words, but she pretended not to care and continued enjoying her barbecue ribs. Until this day, she was still hung up on how she had lost to Noelle. She had never lost so miserably before Noelle showed up.

Seeing how the Flame Speed Racing team was treating Noelle with such enthusiasm, Hazel said slowly, "But wasn't Ms. Quinn a little too harsh today?"

Everyone looked at her in confusion.

Hazel was wearing an odd expression as she stammered, "After all, Shannon is still part of our intensive training camp. She's also the captain of Turbolt Racing. It's one thing to get injured during an official race, but Shannon was hurt quite badly today.

"It almost seems like Ms. Quinn hurt her on purpose. I heard that she broke several bones, too…"

Everyone turned their gazes on Noelle after hearing Hazel's words, looking as if they wanted her to give them a reasonable explanation for her actions.

As Hazel had mentioned, no matter how bad Shannon was, she was still part of their intensive training camp.

No one should act so ruthlessly, even when faced with an average racer. If Noelle didn't have a good reason for hurting Shannon and had only done so because of the competition, it meant that Noelle was malicious at heart.

Noelle languidly picked up her glass. The wound on her fingers hadn't fully recovered yet. She had only removed the bandages to reveal her scabbed fingertips and asked, "Why do you think I treated her that way?"

The corner of her lips curved into a smile. "The members of Turbolt Racing were the ones who caused trouble for me first. They tricked me into going to the back of the mountain and pushed me into a pit. However, they didn't do that because they had nothing better to do."

Noelle pinned Hazel with a knowing look. "They did that because they trusted the inciting words of a so-called insider in an anonymous group chat. They believed that I was seducing the coach, so they wanted to give me a piece of their mind.

"The instigator in that anonymous group chat is also part of Flame Speed Racing," she said lightly.

Everyone was struck with a realization at the same time. When she snapped back to her senses, Jenna exclaimed, "So, Shannon was responsible for your injury, Ms. Quinn! She deserved to get hurt during the race then.

"I had no idea she was such a schemer. If you couldn't participate in the race, we would be missing one person on our team. They would have a better chance of winning if that were the case!"

Noelle arched an eyebrow before saying, "However, I plan to give the instigator one more chance. After all, it's no easy feat to join the intensive training camp. But if she tries to do something so lowly again, I'll definitely send all the evidence I have to the higher-ups."

She smiled before continuing, "I'm sure that the intensive training camp wouldn't want to keep a black sheep like them around either."

The atmosphere turned awkward as everyone tried to guess the identity of the culprit behind something that outrageous.

"I don't care what's going on in the other teams, but as long as I'm your coach, I will not allow anyone to do something like this behind everyone's backs," Hunter added coldly.

Hazel hung her head and drank her beer silently while Alexis shot a knowing look in Noelle's direction. She noticed that Noelle was already looking at Hazel, her eyes blazing with warning.

Alexis couldn't help but feel that Noelle was incredibly intimidating, reminiscent of a leopard that was ready to pounce on its prey. Her behavior made it so that no one would dare underestimate her.

Everyone was drunk by the time the party wrapped up. Hunter wanted to send Noelle home, but she ignored him and called out to Alexis instead. He had wanted to hold her hand, but his fingers ended up closing around thin air.
