Too Good for You The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 73

Even though Noelle wore a mask and a cap, her figure was clearly youthful. She went through the motions of knocking on and inspecting the vehicle, which left Wilson standing nearby, a little annoyed.

He nudged Raymond beside him.

"Mr. Lloyd, where'd you find this bumpkin? Who checks a car like that? I had people spend two months customizing this ride for you, and she's looking at it like it's some toy. Does she even get what she's looking at?"

Raymond didn't know exactly how much Noelle understood about cars, but he knew she was captain of the national intensive training camp. That alone put her above most racers.

He said impatiently, "Don't talk about things you don't understand. You're running your mouth too much."

Before Noelle showed up, no one had been able to handle the thugs from Flying Speed Racing.

Wilson shut up, sulking as he rubbed his nose.

By then, Noelle had already finished her inspection. She lowered her voice, making it sound rougher than usual. "There are some problems with this car. If you don't fix them, the race tomorrow could get messy."

The whole room froze.

They'd been standing around admiring Beast all this time without noticing a thing wrong. Everyone thought it was perfect. And now, she was saying there were issues.

"Hey, do you even know what you're talking about?" Wilson snapped. "This mod is one of the best on the market.

"What gives you the right to question it? Do you have any idea how much money, effort, and skill went into this build?"

He was done.

He'd never met a woman who really knew cars, and he couldn't believe Raymond had brought some half-baked wannabe here to act like she knew everything. It was infuriating just watching her.

But Raymond shot him a warning look and turned calmly back to Noelle. "Number 7, what exactly is wrong with the car?"

Wilson was stunned. Seriously? Was Raymond buying this?

Didn't he think there was a chance she was just bluffing?

That was the thing about these rich heirs. They had more money than sense. All it took was a few casual words, and they swallowed it whole.

Noelle walked to the back of the car. "The turbo tuning is off. There's a high risk of blowing the engine.

"Sure, it's hitting 1.5 bar of pressure, but the connecting rods haven't been reinforced. And the turbo lag hasn't been optimized. That'll make the power spike harder and increase the chance of losing control."

What was she, a racer or an X-ray machine?

Raymond turned back to Noelle, waiting for her call. After all, she'd be the one driving tomorrow.

Noelle nodded. "Go ahead."

Only after she agreed did Raymond let Wilson bring in someone to test-drive. Wilson played it cool, acting smug.

"Drive it right, man! Show them what Beast can do. Time for a few people around here to actually learn something!"

Noelle stepped back silently, watching as the driver geared up and slid into the car.

Behind her, Alexis tugged lightly on her sleeve, worry flickering in her eyes.

She trusted Noelle's skills, but she didn't know if Noelle really understood mod work. If Noelle embarrassed herself in a setting like this, wouldn't that just invite ridicule?

The driver soon pulled Beast onto the track.

Wilson gave Noelle a smug look, his eyes practically shouting the message, "Watch closely. The car my people built doesn't have a single flaw."
