Kieran arched his brow slightly, as if silently telling Lila, "Go ahead, look at me. There's no need to be sneaky about it."
Just imagining it made Lila's mind wander. She could almost hear his voice, lazy and teasing as if he were indulging her. Snapping out of her thoughts, she watched as Kieran walked over and gently gathered her long hair, tucking it neatly behind her shoulder. "All set? Let's go have breakfast."
Lila nodded, standing up to head downstairs with him. After breakfast, Kieran casually grabbed her coat and handbag, holding them out as they left together.
It had been a while since they had such a relaxed and easy morning—just heading to work side by side, like any normal couple. As she watched him drive away, Lila couldn't help but feel a surge of determination. "You've got to work harder, Lila!"
…
At lunchtime, Amelia came looking for Lila, and the two ended up having lunch at the Magi Pictures' employee cafeteria.
Lila couldn't help but laugh as she watched Amelia shove her food down her throat. "Is the food here really better than your private chef's cooking?"
Amelia wiped her mouth and shook her head. "Not even close."
"Then, why do you keep coming here every day?"
"Because if I eat mediocre food now and then, I appreciate my chef's skills even more."
Lila stared at her, completely failing to understand this logic.
"Actually, I came to talk to you about something." Amelia set her cutlery down. "Granduncle Stefan and Faith went to Morgan Group today. What are your thoughts about that?"
She didn't actually think Stefan or Faith could convince Kieran to change his mind. But she did remember his words from yesterday. "Mrs. Morgan, you sure are generous."
Was she? She didn't think she was that generous. But as relationship experts claim, any good relationship required communication.
Since he had been so bothered by her keeping Faith's business card, she figured it wouldn't hurt to take the initiative to visit him that day. Maybe even bring him a small cake to smooth things over. A little sweetness never hurt anyone.
Amelia, thinking Lila had finally seen the light, finished her meal in record time before rushing off. But before leaving, she threw in one last piece of advice. "Remember, you're his wife! If it comes down to a showdown, don't let yourself lose! And if you need backup, call me—I'll help you tear them apart!"
Lila burst out laughing. Why did it sound like she was going to catch Kieran cheating instead of just visiting him at work?
