Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 116

Looking back, Linton realized he had never once considered the possibility that Liliana would one day truly decide to leave him. In his world, Liliana loved him, couldn't live without him, and they were destined to get married and spend their lives together.

Now, reality was telling him he was wrong. Liliana wanted to leave. She didn’t want him, didn’t want to marry him. A knot tightened in his chest, making it hard to breathe. A cold dread spread through him, his limbs trembling with a pain that seemed to pierce his very bones.

“Liliana…” He tried again to coax her, lowering his head to kiss her lips, whispering her name softly over and over. “Let me take you to the hospital. No matter what you say, let’s just get you checked out first. Once I see your medical report, I can finally stop worrying.”

His kisses were starting to annoy her. She kept turning her head to avoid him, but they were so close, their noses almost touching. The familiar, crisp scent of his cologne, mingled with his warm breath on her face, made her deeply uncomfortable.

She used to love that faint, clean scent on him, like a deep sandalwood fragrance, both sensual and captivating. It was the cologne she had given him. For his sixteenth birthday, she had used the first money she ever earned from a part-time job to buy him a bottle, wanting to mark him with a scent that was uniquely hers.

Liliana had always cherished romantic gestures and sentimental value. She hadn't asked her family for money, so the gift she bought with her own earnings wasn't expensive—in fact, for someone of Linton’s status, it was practically cheap. But he had used that same cologne for a decade. From high school through his entire career, he never switched. When one bottle ran out, he would simply buy another of the same kind.

Sometimes, she would tease him about it. “When is the heir of the Cooper family going to get a new scent? This one is too cheap. I’m afraid it doesn’t suit your status.”

Linton’s expression would remain stoic, but the corner of his mouth would lift in an almost imperceptible smile. “I’m used to it. It’s fine.” Then he would add, “Or, you could buy me a new one?”
