After returning home, Liliana buried herself in her work at the studio, sketching new designs. Linton called her several times, but she ignored them all. Annoyed, she finally just blocked his number.
When Linton tried to send her a message, he discovered she had blocked him.
He was so incensed he actually laughed. The little spitfire had grown bold. It was the first time in all these years that she'd thrown such a tantrum, going so far as to block him completely.
Swallowing his anger, Linton felt a fire burning in his chest. His fingers hovered over the 'delete contact' button for a long while. He resisted the urge again and again.
With a cold expression, he finally put his own phone down, snatched Lucas's from his side, and dialed Liliana's number.
Lucas blinked, staring at him in utter disbelief. This was a new level of desperate.
Linton paid him no mind. A flicker of hope lit his dark eyes as he softened his tone. "Liliana, I—"
The line went dead with a sharp click. All that remained was the monotonous dial tone.
Linton's face was a blank mask. He handed the phone back to Lucas and asked, "Do you have another number?"
Lucas was flabbergasted. "Uh... I have a secondary one, but..."
He was starting to get the picture. "Mr. Cooper," he ventured cautiously, "I think this is a waste of time. Miss Hart is furious right now. It won't matter how many times you call."
Linton shot him a cold glare, and Lucas immediately shut his mouth.
After a tense silence, a rare look of confusion crossed Linton's aloof face. "Do you know how to appease a girlfriend?" he asked in a low voice.
Lucas nearly choked, his expression complicated. "Mr. Cooper, with all due respect, your situation has nothing to do with appeasing a girlfriend."
