Too Late, Mr. Cooper: Your Bride Ran with Your Baby novel Chapter 129

“You don’t believe me?” Linton asked, taken aback.

“Why should I believe you?” Liliana retorted. “Believe someone who won’t stop harassing and pestering me?”

She paused, then added, “If you’d just agree to break off the engagement cleanly, then maybe I could bring myself to try believing you. Just... a tiny little bit.”

She held up her thumb and forefinger, showing a minuscule gap.

Linton let out a bitter laugh. He was seriously starting to think he needed to see a doctor to check if Liliana’s antics had given him an ulcer.

“Come home with me first,” he said, grabbing her slender white wrist, his voice leaving no room for argument. A fierce light glinted in his eyes.

“He's not a good guy. I don't trust you with him.”

“And you’re a good guy?” Liliana frowned in annoyance, trying to pull her arm free. “Stop trying to control me. What right do you have? Who I want to be with is my freedom!”

Liam stepped forward, placing his hand over Linton’s on her wrist. He smiled faintly. “Mr. Cooper, making a scene like this in public... even if you’re not embarrassed, Liliana has a reputation to consider. She’s just a young woman; she can’t afford this kind of humiliation. Don’t make things difficult for her, alright?”

Liam’s eyes darkened, something unspoken taking shape. “You know perfectly well how many people in Crownport have mocked her because of you. Do you really want to tarnish her reputation even further?”
