Liliana's hand shot out and slapped him across the face. "Get out," she hissed, fighting to control her temper.
She tried to struggle free, but his arms were like steel bands, trapping her in his embrace.
She looked up at him, her expression cold. "We're not engaged anymore. You and I have nothing to do with each other," she reminded him icily. "Breaking and entering, plus harassment... how many years in prison do you think that'll get you?"
Linton couldn't get enough of holding the soft girl in his arms. He smiled and bent down to place a gentle kiss on her fragrant hair, cooing, "There, there, sweetheart. If you send me to prison, won't our baby be without a father?"
Liliana scoffed. "You were never going to be the baby's father anyway. I have other candidates in mind."
Linton's handsome face darkened. He pressed his tongue against his cheek and smiled. "Who else were you planning to ask? Liam? Or that Aiden?"
"I don't approve."
Linton's tone was forceful. He lowered his lashes again and placed another lingering, affectionate kiss on the soft forehead of the girl in his arms. "Come on, Liliana. How could they be better than me?"
Liliana frowned in irritation. "I don't know about better, but at least they're human."
This made Linton chuckle. He smiled, his eyes soft as he coaxed her, "And what am I, then? Not even human?"
Liliana's tone was frigid. "You're a stray dog on the street. The kind people want to kick when they see you."
As soon as the words left her mouth, she didn't hesitate, raising her foot to kick him.
Linton didn't stop her. Her small, fair foot connected squarely with his abdomen.
"Ugh..."
Linton's brow furrowed, his face paling as a thin layer of sweat broke out on his forehead. He looked to be in pain.
