"Liliana, I heard Linton stood outside all night and was rushed away in an ambulance this morning with a high fever..."
Liliana was sitting on the sofa, focused on a design draft on her laptop. Without looking up, she said, "He did it to himself. Ignore him." It would be for the best if he just disappeared. Then he wouldn't be able to bother her anymore, clinging to her like a shadow.
Mrs. Hart stopped in her tracks, opening her mouth as if to say more, but then she just let out a long sigh. These two kids. What a mess.
Liliana didn't give the incident another thought. The hospital nurse tried calling two more times, hoping she would come to the hospital to identify him. In the end, Liliana simply blocked the number.
That evening, after a warm bath, she changed into her fluffy pajamas and got ready for bed. She had just laid her head on the pillow and was drifting off to sleep when a strange, rustling sound came from outside the window.
In her sleep, Liliana frowned at the noise and turned over uncomfortably. The sound continued, growing closer.
Her frown deepened, and her eyes snapped open. Instantly alert, she carefully got out of bed and crept to the window, pulling back the curtain to peer outside.
And then she saw it.
The next second, a head of fluffy hair appeared, bobbing up and down as it struggled to climb upwards.
