Linton quickly tried to soothe her.
He pulled her into his arms, carefully and humbly trying to please her. "No one, no one likes it. Liliana hates me the most."
“...”
Her lips twitched, and she let out a laugh born of pure anger.
"Get out!" she seethed.
Linton had lost count of how many times she had told him to "get out" recently.
He had gone from feeling heartbroken at first to being numbly accustomed to it. He was quite used to it now.
Gabriel had been right.
He was a natural-born masochist who loved to look for trouble.
Linton gently lowered his head and kissed the top of her soft, dark hair, his eyes filled with tender affection as he looked at her.
"Darling, let's eat breakfast first. No matter what, you and the baby shouldn't go hungry."
In the end, Liliana didn't eat the breakfast Linton made.
Martha cooked her a new meal and brought it up. The housekeeper hesitated for a long time before she finally couldn't hold it in any longer and gently tried to persuade her.
"Miss Hart, the young master... Mr. Cooper woke up at five this morning to prepare your breakfast."
"He spent over an hour in the kitchen, so worried you wouldn't like what he made. He chose every dish based on what you love and what's suitable for..."
Liliana cut her off. "Martha."
She said flatly, "Next time he dares to step into the kitchen to cook, throw him out onto the street. Don't let him in the house."
Martha fell silent.
