It took me a while to slowly regain consciousness.
My head was still somewhat dizzy, and I ached everywhere. looked up and saw that my forehead, arms, and legs were all carefully bandaged with gauze.
The room wasn’t dark, the soft lighting made the entire room appear quiet and warm. Outside it was still pitch black, the windows seemed covered with a layer of fog.
I turned my head and saw someone lying by the bedside.
It was Adrian.
My lips mored, my voice hoarse: “Adrian…”
He was sleeping lightly, and with just my soft call, he immediately woke up, lifted his head to look at me, his tone anxious: “You’re awake? Is there anywhere else that’s uncomfortable?”
I shook my head, my voice raspy: “The driver… how is he?”
“He’s fine too, he was treated in time.” Adrian softly reassured me.
Only then did I feel somewhat relieved.
Then I asked him what exactly happened after I passed out.
He told me that shortly after I lost consciousness, he brought people to the scene and caught Drew who was trying to escape.
“Ferris came too, he was the one who sent you to the hospital” Adrian said truthfully.
He didn’t tell me who had rescued me from the car, nor did he mention that Ferris had stayed in the room with me the entire night–until he left half an hour ago.
I had always known that Ferris arranged for people to secretly protect me, and the driver was also his person. It wasn’t surprising that he would be the first to know about my accident.
But fortunately, Adrian came and caught Drew in time.
If it had been any later… I might really not have survived.
I instinctively felt that Adrian had arrived before Ferris, and I had always thought he was the one who saved me.
Perhaps… loving someone really is selfish.

Chapter 135
Adrian didn’t elaborate, he didn’t emphasize who arrived first, didn’t actively compete for the identity of “lifesaver.”
I looked at him: “Ferris has never let me see you. You’re here watching over me, does he know?”
He nodded gently: “Don’t worry, he knows.”
He said he and Ferris had arrived at the hospital one after the other. When I was in the emergency room, neither of them argued or quarreled, both appearing like gentlemen on the surface, not embarrassing each other.
When Ferris left, he arranged many bodyguards to watch this floor, everything in the room was under his surveillance.
If we had any “improper conduct,” he would definitely know immediately.
My lips were very dry, Adrian got up to pour a glass of warm water, carefully helped me drink it, and helped me sit up against the headboard.
“I’ve already had someone detain Drew.” He said, “When Dane isn’t here in the future, I’ll arrange for others to protect you.”
Inodded gently.
“Mm, okay.”
He continued: “I’ve investigated–that man called Drew used to be a well–known professor abroad. When Ashley first approached him, he still had a fiancée.”
“Drew broke up with his fiancée for Ashley’s sake, and even spent a lot of money to open a laboratory for her, even letting her publish his research results.”
“But later he was fired by the university, no longer able to provide resources for her, so she returned to the country.”
Hearing this, I wasn’t surprised at all.
I had long known that Ashley’s past wasn’t clean. Although I hadn’t investigated in such detail, such things were never unfamiliar to her.
I believe that if one day Ferris lost his current status, Ashley would definitely leave him without hesitation.
Unfortunately, too many people couldn’t see this truth clearly.
I looked up at Adrian: “The person who really wanted me dead wasn’t just Drew, but also Ashley.”
“Today I heard very clearly from his mouth–he did this to please Ashley.”
“I don’t want to just send him to prison like this.”
