Two Times the Charm (Clara and Emmett) novel Chapter 476

"Oh, I owe you one for that." Emmett reached out, grabbed a cookie from the tray, and took a bite. His nod of approval was unexpected and sincere. "Hmm, not bad. This is definitely something the kids will go for."

Basking in the glow of his praise, Leah felt as though she'd been kissed by the spring sun itself!

You see, this was the first time Emmett had truly acknowledged her, usually treating her as if she were invisible.

Sophia was even more excited, barely able to contain her excitement, wanting to just shove Leah into Emmett's arms!

"And that's not all! She's been up night and day at home, worrying herself sick over your health, trying to perfect her soup recipes. She's been fretting over whether you'd even take a sip!"

When Sophia finished, she turned to Leah with a knowing look, "See, I told you. My boy wouldn't turn down your kindness. He's bound to come around sooner or later."

Leah nodded, a blush spreading across her cheeks as she said, "Then I'll make sure to bring some over soon for you to try."

Emmett nodded, his handsome face softening. "Yeah, that'd be great. I'm not exactly a fan of hospital food."

Sophia, sensing the moment ripening, stood up pretending to remember an errand. "Oh dear, I've left something at home. I need to go. You two have a chat."

On her way out, she didn't miss the chance to shoot Leah an encouraging wink before hurrying off.

With Sophia gone, Emmett and Leah were left alone in the hospital room.

Leah found herself nervously sweating in the palm of her hand, alone with Emmett. Emmett was no simpleton like Clara; one wrong word, one slip, and she feared he'd see right through her.
