Without looking up from his work, he said, “I don’t.”

Liliana’s heart clenched, but she kept the smile fixed on her face. “That’s fine. I was just asking. Don’t worry about it. I’ll go now. I’ll text you tonight about what time we should leave.”

The moment she was out of his office, her expression crumbled. His resolve was as firm as ever. Their engagement had been announced, and people were already starting to whisper, waiting to see her humiliated when the wedding never happened. What was she going to do?

She opened WhatsApp, looking at her chat history with Emma. Emma had sworn she would make the marriage happen, but so far, nothing had changed. Could she really count on her?

She decided to give Emma one more chance. If, after a month, there was still no progress, she would have to take matters into her own hands.

The next day, Amara went to see another house. After viewing five different properties, she felt she had a good sense of what was available. In the end, she decided to buy the very first one she had seen.

She had enough money to buy it outright, so she made a full cash offer on the forty-million-dollar house and closed the deal the same day. With the paperwork finished, a huge weight was lifted from her shoulders. She called Elysia to go out for a celebratory dinner.

After dinner, Amara returned to the Everly estate, wondering how to break the news to Mr. Everly that she was moving out. She planned to tell him about the pregnancy at the same time. She worried about how the old man would handle the shock of his surrogate granddaughter having a child out of wedlock. That anxiety was the reason she had been putting it off.
