“Knock, knock, knock.”
She had just closed her eyes when a rather urgent knocking sounded at her door.
The knock clearly wasn't Finnian's, but it was almost midnight. Who would come looking for her at this hour, and why were they knocking so impatiently?
Amara padded to the door in her slippers. Seeing Hogan standing outside, his face etched with anxiety, her own expression soured. “What are you doing here?”
“Amara, you're getting married?” Hogan asked anxiously. “How can you get married? What about Finnian? Do you have any idea how much he's suffering?”
Hogan had run into Finnian on his way over. He had been shocked by Finnian's appearance; he had never seen him look so heartbroken. The sight had made him so anxious that he came straight to find Amara.
Amara stared straight at Hogan. “None of your damn business.”
“…”
Hogan’s eyes widened. Did he hear that right? The always-gentle Amara just cursed?
Amara had always been a polite person. This was the first time she had ever sworn, but she just couldn't take it anymore.
Being disturbed late at night was one thing, but Hogan was asking such a foolish question. The fact that she didn't slap him again was a testament to her good temper.
“What about your Finnian? He can go to hell!”
“Are you out of your mind? He's about to marry Liliana, and you're coming here asking me what he should do? Hogan, you should really get your head checked!”
After her harsh tirade, Amara shot him a fierce glare and slammed the door in his face.
