Edith was the same age as Nathan, but thanks to meticulous self-care, she looked younger.
She was beautiful, and years in a position of power had given her a sharp, intelligent air. She was clearly a very capable and formidable career woman.
They arranged to meet at a high-end restaurant downtown. Amara chose a very feminine dress and wore elegant, understated makeup suitable for meeting elders. She curled her hair and let it fall over her shoulders, looking both graceful and pretty.
She had seen Nathan and Edith from a distance a few times when she was a child but had never interacted with them directly. She was still a little nervous. Keith comforted her and held her hand as they entered the private dining room.
"Dad, Mom, this is Amara."
"Amara, do you remember my parents? You probably met them when you were little."
Keith pulled out a chair for Amara and smiled as he made the introductions.
Amara looked at Nathan, who was seated formally at the head of the table, and said, "It's nice to see you, Mr. West."
Nathan was a very serious man who didn't seem to talk much. He looked her up and down, gave a curt nod, and said nothing more.
Amara then greeted Edith. Edith also gave her a thorough, assessing look from head to toe before nodding.
"You're quite beautiful, it's true. I hear you're also very talented. Have you been a screenwriter for many years?"
"Yes, I started writing scripts in college and began working as a professional screenwriter after graduation. I've written several TV series over the past few years," Amara answered honestly.
