But seeing that Serena wasn’t coming closer, Leon called out to her urgently. Something seemed off about him. “Mommy, why won’t you talk to me? Don’t you love me anymore?”
Serena was confused and asked him a few careful questions. That was when she realized Leon’s memory seemed to have stopped right before Eliza showed up–like none of it had ever happened.
The doctor came over to give Leon a full examination and was surprised by the memory loss. “The patient did hit his head pretty hard, but we didn’t see any signs of internal bleeding or nerve pressure before.”
The doctor was puzzled too, but gave a cautious guess that the amnesia was probably temporary and might clear up in a few days.
Victor and Eliza rushed to the hospital as soon as they heard the news. When they learned about Leon’s memory loss, Eliza was clearly relieved. Serena sat quietly nearby, watching Leon carefully.
The moment Eliza appeared, a flash of hatred and disgust crossed the little boy’s face.
‘I knew it,‘ Serena thought with a sigh. She knew Leon too well, so from the very beginning, she’d suspected he was just faking his memory loss. Now that she’d caught that look on his face, she was completely sure.
“Since Leon’s awake, I should go,” Serena said, getting up from her chair.
Leon immediately panicked and reached out with his little hands, grabbing onto her clothes. He looked up at her with pitiful eyes, like he couldn’t bear to be abandoned.
Serena paused for a moment, then finally pulled her clothes free from his grip. Her voice returned to its usual calm tone. “Leon, faking memory loss won’t work. There’s no such thing as a do–over in this world.”
The other three people in the room all tensed up when they heard this.
Leon burst into tears with a loud “waaah” and threw his arms around her waist, not caring about anything else. “Mom, I know I was wrong! Please take me with you. I’ll never do it again, please forgive me.”

Serena still felt sorry for him, but she’d already spent all her love on Victor and Leon. Even if Leon apologized, she would never turn back and accept a kid who’d betrayed her.
“Let go,” Serena said tiredly. “And you still haven’t told the truth about falling down the stairs. Leon, you’re old enough to think for yourself now. You should know that some things can’t be covered up.”
Having said her piece, Serena walked away without looking back. Leon finally turned all his hatred toward Eliza.
He pointed his little finger at Eliza and shouted the truth to Victor, “She’s the one who pushed me down the stairs. This evil woman heard you were getting married and took it out on me. It was all her!”
Victor’s expression darkened as he turned to look at Eliza. Seeing things going badly, she quickly waved her hands in denial. “Vic, how is that even possible? You know me. I would never do something like that. I didn’t-”
