Chapter 260
“I don’t know. My people will keep watching over you for a while. If Daniel dares
to
come back, I’ll make sure he ends up in jail for good,” Keith said.
Though his tone didn’t sound particularly harsh, Serena knew him well enough by now to know he meant every word.
What Daniel had done hurt others as well as himself. Exposing his actions was a small way of doing something good for society.
That matter settled for the time being. After Daniel left, he really didn’t make any more moves, presumably too afraid to risk it.
And Serena got some good news, too.
“Seri, I’m coming back home. Surprised? Didn’t see that coming, huh?” Lana Quinn’s cheerful voice came over the phone.
Serena, who’d answered the call early in the morning, was a bit confused at first. Once she realized what was happening, a smile quickly spread across
her face.
She, Lana, and Kristy had been best friends. But Lana had gone to Malvoria to study further and hadn’t been back in years.
“Are you moving back for good this time, or just staying for a few days before going back?” Serena asked.
Lana sounded a little dramatic as she spoke. “Of course, I’m moving back permanently. You know my stomach. It just can’t handle the food here. One extra meal here, and I feel like I’m wasting my life.”
Serena couldn’t help laughing at her complaint. They really hadn’t seen each other in ages, and if Lana could move back, that would be great.
“I’m flying back tomorrow. You have to come pick me up, okay?” Lana said.
Of course, Serena would. With Winnie and the Tims Group issues sorted out recently, Serena had some free time. They hadn’t seen each other for so
long. It would be wrong not to go.
“What about Kristy? This is a big deal. I’m coming home. She should have time to come, too, right?” Lana asked.
Serena smiled, a little helpless. “I’m afraid that’ll disappoint you. She’s away traveling with her husband these days. She sent me photos a few days ago. They probably won’t be back for a month.”
Lana was a little disappointed, but since she’d decided to come back on a whim, she couldn’t be too demanding. Besides, now that she was moving back for good, there would be plenty of time to meet up later.
The next day, Serena wrapped up all her work and headed to the airport. Just as she arrived, Lana was walking through the entrance.
The moment Lana saw her, she dropped her luggage and rushed into Serena’s arms. “I missed you so much!”
Serena couldn’t help smiling, “Welcome home.”
They walked out of the airport. Keith had already arranged a car and driver. When Lana saw the car parked out front, she raised an eyebrow. “Girl, when did you get rich?”
It was a stretch limo. Serena sighed, “It’s my boyfriend’s car. I’m just borrowing it today. If I ever get rich, you and Kristy will be the first to know.”
