When Her Death Couldn't Break Him (Cecilia and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 2119

A deadly silence descended over the room.

Magnus, afraid that Denise was angry with him, immediately promised, "Denise, the past is the past. I have turned over a new leaf now, so don't worry. I will never let you down, and I will never do those horrible things again."

Denise let him say his piece, then replied, "Since I agreed to be with you, I won't be upset about your past actions. What angers me is what you're doing right now."

"Right now? What did I do?" Magnus frowned, genuinely lost.

"How could you ask your sister to let us use her house for our wedding? That is her and her husband's home," Denise stated.

"That's it?" Magnus said dismissively, "She's my sister, so it's not a big deal."

His indifferent attitude angered Denise further. "Don't be so nonchalant. I'm telling you, now that we're together, you're not allowed to ask your sister for help anymore. Don't take everything for granted. We have to rely on ourselves first."

Although Magnus didn't agree with her, he still nodded. "Okay, okay, I'll listen to whatever you say from now on."

"Good," Denise said.

After dropping that subject, Denise became worried about meeting Magnus' other relatives. "Will your grandmother and the others mind my background?"

"Don't worry. My grandmother adores me the most. As long as I say you're a good person, she won't look down on you," Magnus promised.

He had a knack for charming the elderly, which was proven true when the two of them went to see Heather the next day.

Heather had been a bit upset at Magnus for running off with her son's money, but when Magnus came with gifts of all sizes, she was instantly beaming, no longer finding anything wrong with him.

Eloise was also at home. She sized Magnus and Denise up, then glanced at the gifts they brought.
