When Love Turns Dangerous novel Chapter 156

After placing the roses on the desk, Tara snuck to the pantry and took a look at the card. As she had expected, it was Jonah. Seeing his name, her heart started racing. She wondered if he was trying to pursue her.

At that moment, she felt slightly lost. After all, she had never been in an actual relationship before. Although Lance and Soren were nice to her, she ended up with them without even realizing it. So, she didn't have any choice previously.

Tara took a deep breath, thinking that she had no plans of being in a relationship for the moment. So, she decided to ignore it and avoid Jonah. Since she was returning to Naoundbury in a month, she figured a workaholic like him would forget about her eventually.

For the next 10 days, she kept avoiding Jonah. However, the gifts kept reaching her in various ways. Sometimes, Jonah would come down for a walk, so she would keep her head down. Even when her heart was racing, she didn't dare to look up at all.

When she felt him getting closer to her and heard his alluring voice, she became more nervous. Fortunately for her, he didn't stay around too long and slowly walked away. As she watched him leave, her heart would still continue racing.

Tara bit her lip and lowered her gaze, feeling incredibly conflicted. Even if she felt something for Jonah, it would still be more miraculous for her to be in a relationship than to climb the tallest mountain.

Time slowly passed, and there were two days left before she returned to Naoundbury. During her time there, she had received so many gifts that she had to send them back. They were all from Jonah, and most of them were luxurious.

Once, she sent Jonah a message about the gifts. However, he ignored her words, saying that the gifts were a token of his appreciation. Since he didn't give her the gifts personally, she had no choice but to accept them. After all, she didn't want to trouble the staff who sent everything to her.

Alice kept asking who the man pursuing Tara was because she had never seen anyone doing it so lavishly. He also had never shown his face throughout the whole month of giving Tara the gifts.

On the night Tara left Stugard, she walked out of the office with Alice after they were done with work. Just as they exited the building, a black luxurious car stopped next to them.

Since the vehicle looked familiar, Tara did a double-take on it. When the window was rolled down, she instantly locked gaze with the dashing Jonah. He was staring at her with his deep, dark eyes as he calmly made a call on his phone.

Then, Tara's phone started ringing in her bag. She anxiously pulled it out and saw that Jonah was calling her. Tara wondered if she should answer it. She didn't know what to do at all.

She figured Jonah's impression of her would be affected if she continued hesitating. So, she made up her mind and tossed her phone back into her bag.
