“More than that!” Rio said quickly. “Natalic’s kids just came to visit Finn. They’re his classmates from kindergarten. Father, I have to tell you, there’s something strange about all of this.”
He recounted how Finn had been injured at school.
Payne’s face grew grave.
“This is bad. Where are those children now?”
“I… I told the driver to take them back,” Rio admitted. The realization struck him instantly, draining the blood from his face.
It was over.
The children were in danger.
“Send someone to intercept that car immediately!” Payne’s voice shook, his pulse hammering.
Rio felt the same dread rising in his chest. “I’ll go myself.”
He pulled out his phone to call the driver, but no matter how many times he dialed, the line wouldn’t connect.
In the car, Susie and Sean had already sensed something was wrong.
Sean, trained by Baron in secret, was highly sensitive to toxins. The moment they sat down, he caught the sickly sweet scent in the air.
His eyes narrowed. He quickly pressed a pill into Susie’s hand and swallowed one himself.
She didn’t hesitate. Having grown up at his side, she knew exactly what he meant. After a brief pause, she swallowed it, then let out a staged yawn.
“I’m so sleepy all of a sudden…“‘
“Then sleep,” Sean murmured, feigning a yawn of his own. “It’s fine. This is Finn’s family’s car. The driver will wake us when we get home.”
The two leaned together and shut their eyes.

Susie traced a message in his palm. “What’s going on?”
“The car’s drugged“, Sean spelled back.
She stiffened, but his hand tightened around hers.

“Don’t move. Pretend to be asleep. I have needles ready. If he tries anything, I’ll protect you. Let’s see who’s behind this first.”
Her heart steadied instantly.
“Okay. I’ll listen to you.”
The driver steered into a desolate stretch of road, then parked. Glancing at the back seat and seeing the two children slumped as if unconscious, he finally relaxed.
He slipped off a gas mask, pulled out his phone, and lit a cigarette.
“Boss, Rio told me to drop off two brats at the Stone villa,” he reported, putting the call on speaker.
A distorted voice came through the line. “What’s their connection to the Stone family?”
“Not sure. Rio just said to deliver them safe. I didn’t even know Natalie had kids. But I overheard Payne saying Witch Doctor was treating Madam Rina. Seems like Witch Doctor and the Stones are close. You think these brats have something to do with him?”
The other end paused.
“Doesn’t matter. Witch Doctor and the Stones mustn’t get too close. The Stone family is already powerful enough. If Witch Doctor joins them, we’ll face too much resistance. Take the kids to Dock One. There’s a ship leaving tonight.”
The driver froze. “Boss… you’re saying to sell them overseas?”
“Do as I say.” The line went dead.
The driver exhaled smoke, staring at the children. He crushed the cigarette under his heel and muttered, “Don’t blame me, brats. Wrong place, wrong time. You came to Rio–you should’ve stayed out of it.”
He opened the back door to check on them.

But before he could react, Sean’s eyes flew open. A hidden needle shot from his sleeve, stabbing straight into the man’s neck.
“Ungh-!”
Caught off guard, the driver stumbled. “You little punk–you were faking?”
He lunged at Sean in fury.
But Susie, delicate and doll–like, moved fast. She grabbed the fire extinguisher at her side and smashed it down on his head.
He never expected either of them to still be awake–let alone fighting back.
With the blow to his skull and the drug from Sean’s needle, his vision swam. He tried to curse, but his eyes rolled back.
He collapsed heavily to the ground, unconscious.
